May I ask what you think happens on a cross-country road trip?

that would concern me...but if i had a thorough ppi and everything came back clean i would go ahead with the purchase.

The previous owner cared enough to see what needed to be done prior to a long road trip, that (combined with ppi) would re assure me that it hadnt been neglected and that he actually gave a sh*t.

But...you are the one that matters, you shouldnt buy it if you will keep thinking in the back of your mind that the car was mistreated and might fall apart or blow up at any minute.

I hate to say it - follow your gut.

It sounds like you already thought this, and are looking for some method of verification, to see what actually happened to this car (if anything).

If you avoid purchase and were right, crisis averted, sleep better
If you avoid purchase and were wrong, crisis averted, find another car, sleep better
If you purchase and were wrong, crisis averted and sleep better, with your car in the garage.
If you purchase and were right, you've started something that will cost a little more to get out of (either with resale, or maintenance).

If there is something inside telling you something, it is usually for a good reason.

Good luck!

i really dont see what what the problem is assuming that, the car comes out clean when you get the PPI done. no paintwork, maintenance up to par etc .

Smile Purchased!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Thought I'd take a minute and provide an update.

I ended up speaking to the previous owner and had a thorough PPI completed. Everything came back solid, purchased the vehicle!

I'm totally satisfied, unreal vehicle.

Right choice. Congrats.

I would buy a car driven like that in a heartbeat. I would be much more hesitant to buy a car from someone who had a really steep driveway, drives in traffic a lot, or does something that the car wasn't built for. This one should treat you well.
