What is your opinion on a Gallardo SE?

 

I have. It is absolutely fantastic. Much more car than the early Gallardo.

How would you compare to a F430? I am going back and forth between a 6 speed Gallardo SE and F430. Love the sound of the V10!!!!

 

Gallardo SE is the better value.

Reliable V10 > $$$ Maintained V8
500+ HP > 483 BHP

Although the Ferrari is "rawer" I would take the Gallardo anyday (if I had the money).

 

Compared to an early Gallardo, I found the F1 430 to be more enjoyable to drive. I also drove a 6 speed 430, which inmo, ruined the car. Its as if the MAGIC of the 430 is in its new F1. With 6 speed, the car did not excite me.

That said, the Gallardo SE, inmo, looks far more exotic than a 430 ever will, sounds fantastic, the revised gearing and transmissions are great, and it just buries the 430 in everyway for me.

 

I love my SE. It out performs my 911 TT Cab X50 any day.

Did you go with the E-gear or 6 speed?

 

SE has 520BHP

 

I have the E-Gear!

 

Since the 6-spd and F1 are mechanically identical except for the F1 computer shifting for you, the above tells me more about your abilities with clutch and gear lever than any meaningful comment on the car.

There could have been things he was referring to other than the actual gear ratios... like the shifting mechanisms, etc.
