DETROIT – With more than 2000 models sold in 2006, Lamborghini rang in the new year celebrating its best year ever. The Italian automaker gave details of its success at a brief press conference today at the 2007 North American International Auto Show.
Worldwide sales were up 30 percent in 2006 —2,087 units over 2005’s 1,600 units. Of those 2,087 units, 876 of them were sold in the United States, up 37 percent over 2005 U.S. sales.
Growth was strong in Europe, where 746 units sold in 2006 represented a 50 percent increase. With 151 cars delivered, Great Britain saw growth of 81 percent.
The growth is attributed to a stronger dealer network – there were 65 dealers in 2005 and 100 by the end of 2006 – and a growing product lineup.
Lamborghini sells the Gallardo Spyder and the Murcielago LP640 Coupe. Murcielago LP640 Roadster sales are expected to begin in the spring.

599GTB is good car. It is fast. But is nothing more than a sexy and wild M6
I'd take any LP over 599 GTB even used LP to a new 599GTB.

I just wish Lambo would go all out as they used to

As for they Veyron, I consider this car a press release on wheels.
Ok Veyron cannot be a significant example but many people say tha Lambo has a disadvantage because of AWD.
I do not agree this.
Maybe it is plus 100kg weight but it is not important for me. add 30+hp this and nevermind +100kg
I strongly understand AWD is a need for supercars.
I drove my M5 last weekend go for 270km/h and i was really nerveous , feel sweat coming from my back
That was autobahn but there are a little curves(large 3 line curves) on the road. I didnt feel safety in the car.
But in Gallardo i feel safe when i go 300+kmh no sweat coming and feeling safe. (compared to M5)
Same autobahn i drove my ex996C4S years ago and i was feeling safe again
I feel a significant different at high speed driving both AWD and RWD
I think that must be same for the 997 Turbo owners while driving their Turbo vs their RWD performance car.

Also in the Lambo you are sitting lower in the car, among the wheels and not on top of them as you do in the M.IMO AWD is only called for in Supercars with a human side

PS AWD is all personal preference... i'd prefer a AWD to be safe where as i would prefer RWD for FUN... cannot compare both...

Yeah maybe LP640 is not an Enzo but it has ability to be a rival CGT and SLR which it proved on some tests when compared to SLR. And also i am sure it is mıuch much improved Murcie and for me one of the best looking car
I agree on RWD AWD choice RWD is pure for fun but AWD is not so much behind it. Both has different tastes thats why i choose 500hp AWD car for safe speeding and RWD car for fun .
For CLS63 , 599GTB choice it is a taste also depends on person choice, which both cars will not me first choice as a supercar(even CLS is not a supercar)
