Anyone not amazed by the Gallardo???
Anyone not amazed by the Gallardo???
Just got back from a Lambo promotional event in which we were given an extended test drive in the Gallardo. I went with the intent to confirm my lambo passion and most likely purchase an e-gear within the next couple of weeks.
Drove the car and came away feeling that it was very nice but did not feel that "Gotta have it" sensation that i was hoping for? I'll let my wife drive it soon and go from there but i'm pretty sure she's going to be blah about pretty much anything(except her beloved bentley gt)
Just wondering if others have come away with the same feeling before or is pretty much everyone gaa-gaa for the Gallardo? BTW, i'm not exceedingly wealthy so exotics are not an everyday thing for me. This would be a pretty substantial auto purchase. I got back in the 996tt and felt more satisfied with it(would not be trading anything in for the G)

I borrowed an 06 E-gear for a week. The first 2 days I didn't like the car. I had the same impressions you had...no big deal, not worth spending that kind of money on a car that doesn't 'wow' you. E-Gear seemed clunky and the car felt heavy.
But, the last 3 days, when I started to get more comfortable in the car I started to love it and didn't want to give it back. I got used to the E-Gear and shifted smoother. I got used to the size of the car and the handling, hence drove it harder and faster. I drove it everyday to work and it would work fine for a daily driver for me.
I liked at after a few days and now I want one...still.

I like them. Quite a bit, so long as they have a real gearbox.
Car would be a whole lot more fun either with some weight removed and a RWD conversion, or a pair of turbos and 200+ more ponies through the AWD setup.

I really like the car, but since I was a kid, the Lambo was all about the scissor doors. Not to have them seems a shame. Before buying my 996TT I was seriously considering a Gallardo, but I think I would opt for a Diablo instead.....if the cost is a factor.
Well at first I didn't care for them. But when I drove the Gallardo Spyder in E Gear, it changed me. Just the sound is so pure, especially with exhaust. So that experience kind of tainted my thoughts towards my turbo, and 3 months later I traded it in on a 07 G Spyder.

side note - most of the potential customers i saw at this event were not what you would expect. seemed like alot of people there had no intention of ever buying one but just wanted to say they had ridden or driven a lambo....not sure what the selection criteria was

Seriously, I love everything about it, but do wish it came with the scissor doors.
