Although I would love to give you great reasons why,,, as with so many of these opinion type threads, this would have to be a personnal decision. There are some stuff you get with the "turbo" but you can have these on the "s" and as most know, the s is actually a turbo also, just at a lower hp. Kinda like asking should you get a base 911 or the S. Want more HP? Get the "turbo" the vehicle is actually extremely fun to drive..

Look if you want to buy a Porsche you need to go to web site and spend hours with the configurator. You get some stuff standard with turbo that is extra with the S. Maybe you want that stuff maybe you don't. But add it up anyway then subtract that from cost of turbo. That will tell you what the extra HP will cost.
Go to dealer drive them nuts driving all the cars they have so you know the difference between the models performance. Take a sub stick with you favorite music. Check out standard Bose and burmister.
If they won't help go to a different dealer. I spent weeks doing this before I ordered my Cayenne. If you don't want to spend that much time then just buy the color you want and you will probably be happy enough.

Why ? You need to drive a Macan S: due to capital and high mileage I was trading my '06 x3 for a '12. I stop at my favorite J Daniel's pcarwh_rehouse to see the S. i drove it aggressively and returned to the old x3. The '06 was tighter and more visceral. I got in the new(er) x3 happily aware I didn't drop $65k for a ride than was more lexus that a driving machine :-)

what lppfs said was part that I liked, it rides very nice for long distance, but can go into sport or sport + and the macan turbo will out perform many sports cars, 0-60 in 4.4 sec and can actually be tracked if you want, then go back into normal mode and I have a very smooth riding vehicle. Just becouse I buy a SUV does not mean I want the rough ride that many offer, but if I wish to leave quickly, I can, if I need more, that's why Porsche makes 911's...lol

Because on days when weather or circumstances won't permit you to drive your 991, you won't miss it.

It's that simple

BOBP is infamous around these parts
Because if you get the "S", you'll wish you ordered the "Turbo". I'm not sorry I got the Turbo. And don't forget to order the Sport Exhaust System. Well worth the money. Video will be put up shortly. Happy motoring!

Reality.........

1. have had 6 Pcars, currently driving a 991 C2S cab
2. have spent hours on the config, and delta between S and Turbo is $24k (back to my original post)
3. The dealer has a S, driven it. Not a chance to drive a Turbo since they are impossible to come by (here at least)
4. I don't need to check out the audio, I already know the Bose is a POS and the PSE usually supplies enough music for me.
5. there is no dealer in the USA that has a bunch of Macan's sitting around for someone to come in and choose one they like because of color.
6. you are , what engineering school did you go to? must be Michigan
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I appreciate all the feedback, I was hoping someone who has/had a 991S would have driven the Macan S and Turbo. If I order the S, I don't want buyers remorse about not getting the Turbo. So tell me the Turbo isn't that much better than the S!!!Thanks!!!

I currently have a 911 and chose the Macan turbo, I test drove a S but as with my 911, I did not want any remorse and am completely satisfied with my decision. If you are on the fence, you will always wonder if you should have gotten the turbo if you get the S.

I'd suggest that the S could work IF you get the PASM, the air ride system, which should lower the body and therefore help aerodynamics and cornering as well. My point was that the S w/o these two features is a good CUV but way too soft, I mean WAY Too soft.

I drove both Turbo and S extensively. The performance of the S just didn't do it at all for me. Loaded a very highly optioned Turbo (24 option items and one of those was a package of 5 or 6 items)

You haven't said if the Macan is a replacement for the 991S or in addition. If replacement and you only get the Macan S, you'll be sad.

Actually, there are dealers with inventory. When I was in OC in June, I stopped by a big dealer there and had a chance to drive a Turbo (which wasn't available to me in Bellingham), and also got to check out various sound systems, etc. (I see they currently have an S and a Turbo in stock). You might want to consider a quick trip to check out some cars. I went with an S and am very happy with it (after coming from a 2006 C2S cab). I tried a Turbo and didn't notice a big difference. After driving 6500 miles in my S, I wouldn't mind trying a Turbo again to see if I notice more difference now that I'm very familiar with my S.

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought the Turbo comes standard with full leather, PASM, standard larger wheel options, bigger stand alone brakes and Bose standard that the S has for stand alone options? I can't see the difference being 24k when the two cars are equipped similarly.
