Tell me why a Turbo is worth
Correct me if I am wrong but I thought the Turbo comes standard with full leather, PASM, standard larger wheel options, bigger stand alone brakes and Bose standard that the S has for stand alone options? I can't see the difference being 24k when the two cars are equipped similarly.
You are correct, many things that are options come equipped on the turbo along with a larger 3.6 l turbo putting out 400 hp which you can not equip onto the S, as I have seen some point out that they can tune their S to get that output but that seems to be the way with ant model.. Do I get a base 911 or the S. Etc...
Standard on Turbo, Option on S build:
PASM: $1360
PCM: $2990
Bose: $1400
Roof lining Alcantara: $1540
Aluminum Interior package: $550
Heated front seats: $525
PDLS: $720
18 Way Partial leather seats: $1710
Heated steering wheel: $250
Side Blade in exterior color:$670

Also Turbo has bigger brakes.
Some place around 4112 lbs up to 4652 lbs depending on lots of variables.

Yes, for ALL the Turbo stuff that a aren't obvious by looking at brochures - bigger brakes, more robust suspension and many unobvious things like half shafts and bearings, and more cooling. When we finally know all the items that are upgraded (Panorama will probably do an article on it like they have for other Porsche product lines), it will be a considerable list that you get for your $12k. When modded and chipped, the S might safely and reliably handle 400 HP whereas that number for the Turbo will likely be 500+ HP. If the lighter duty stuff will do it for you, the S is for you. For those that want more or like to run track events, the Turbo will be the choice.

Unless you really need to do this I think it would be a mistake. I love my new 2015 Cayenne S I got last week. It is a blast to drive and just what I need to keep me going through a Minnesota winter but It would never replace my 997.
I test drove a number of Macan's and they are just not in the 911 class either. If I lived in SF I probably would have kept my 4Runner just to haul stuff. Winters here in MN are just too sloppy and slippery to enjoy a 911 Cab much. What happened to the OP did he give up?

I figure I'll drive the Macan more although I do have a commuter car (HOV access) which uses no gas (Volt). I tried the extra truck to haul stuff (my MDX) but it also ended up sitting unused too often so I sold it. At this point the Macan will substitute for a sports car for a few years till my daughter starts driving. I love the look of it and it handles real well. I also think the PDK really sells the car.
I do love the 991 styling, PDK and handling, much better than my 996TT and I'm sure I'll get another - maybe Gen 2 - or maybe a used 991 GT3.
Edit - GF is now buying a 2015 Cayenne S and tells me to keep the 911. First world problems I know.....

That is not a problem it is perfect for you. Now you can wait and look at a 991.2
