Those of you that track and auto-x where are you buying you're helmets from, I thought about online but fitment issues are something that concern me.

helmet city has the best prices around. their service is also top notch. they expedited my shipment by sending it directly from the manufacturer and thus saved me extra shipping.

i think they offer a 10-15% discount for 6speed too.

Thanks, and what are you're recommendations in terms of manufacturer etc.

My thinking is if I get fitment done at a local store then I could always order directly from helmet city or the like?

Is there a minimum safety standard?

Needs to be 2005 SA rated. Don't bother hitting a motocycle shop. Won't have the right ratings. Fitament may be ok though.

I went to a local shop for fitament then ordered online and got it within a week. Just in time for a first track day.

I'm leaning towards Bell or Simpson? Scott which shop did you get fitment done?

The Bell M3 Pro is a good road race helmet that is light and not too expensive. If you are just looking for a bargain the Bell M2 is a helmet that has good functionality and is very afffordable. You can get these from Helmet City or OG, I agree these are good places to shop. I got an M2 for my wife for DE days and I use an M3 Pro for road racing and instructing. SA 2005 is what you want to get. Actually in October the SA 2010 helmets should be coming out. The benefit to waiting a couple of months is that you will get 5 more years out of the helmet before it gets expired by rules. You really should replace an SA helmet every 5 years due to padding breakdown and Nomex wear over time. If you dont drive alot you can get by with an older helmet, and the newer SA rating may be worth the wait. The price on an SA 2010 will be much higher though. You are right to try on the helmet that you like and see how it fits, they are all very different. Good luck.

Where are you located? I bought my helmet from sube sports in long beech ca. You should try them on. They are and expensive investment and they need to fit right to do the job. Subesports.com is their web page.

Thanks for everyone's advice and feedback!

Scott I'm heading to Frederick tomorrow to check out the Capital Driving Club's Auto-X and to pick-up a Lotus by-pass pipe for the Exige so hopefully I'll get to try some Helmets on and talk to a few enthusiasts.

Mick
