Domed Strut Tower

So I go to Mini and they say I domed my strut tower.. I have an '05 JCW, is anyone familiar with this particular conundrum and how big of an issue is it really.. My local shop said it won't matter if the car is aligned..

this is a quite common problem. it is referred to as "mushrooming". the fix isn't difficult or too expensive (but it is a bit barbaric). basically one places a 2 X 4 on top of the offending strut tower and bashes it w/ a bfh until it is flat. serveral companies make plates that can then be bolted on to prevent a reoccurance. i have big beefy camber plates which evidently prevent mushrooming as well, since i don't have the problem on my track-abused MINI. good luck.

Mini Madness makes struts plates that actually correct the problem as you tighten the plates down, so you dont need to use a 2X4 and a hammer....
