How are GTR’s already in the 125 mph trap speeds with the massive weight????

How are some GTR’s running 125 mph + trap speeds with just a Cobb Tune and upgraded wastegates?? Even at 520 whp levels a 4000 lbs car (Driver included) cannot go that fast.

I am confused; can someone explain what other mods do these cars have?

They would also have down pipes. One of the GTR guys are running tonight with the new LC and hes been 11.2 125mph so It may go 11.0 tonight, we will see later tonight. His car is making around 500whp, this car uses its power well due to the trans.

That’s just amazing. A 996 turbo which is roughly 400 lbs lighter runs 128 mph with 500 whp. Doesn’t make sense? Maybe it holds power longer in the rpms?

Gearing, parasitic loss or lack of it with the DCT, COeD, hp in the right rpm range versus peak hp...

The 125 mph is without upgraded wastegates. At the other forum they recently posted 11.03 @ 125mph with just a cobb.

The cars with upgraded wastegates usually have the HKS kit and those are running 129+

As heavy as this car is, GT-R just knows how to put the power down with extreme grip and balance. Truly a well engineered automobile to be fast on the track and strip.

I really don't think the V-spec will post that much of lower time. Lucky if it's 2-5 sec lower honestly. Now a modded GTR producing 550-600whp I would like to see on the ring

I ran 11.03 @ 125.4 MPH last night, the car just has a tune on it, and I didn't use "launch control"... slips and videos here:

A lot of its in the gearing, if you look at some of the reports in the magazine, the GTR hangs with the Z06, 911 turbo etc to the 1/4 mile, but on the 1-150mph test it was over 10 seconds behind the viper and z06.

I wonder what GTR would be like if it only weighed 3100 lbs like the Z06.....

I still dont get this. A 4000 lbs car with driver and only ~500 whp is running 125 and 11 secs.

That is crazy...how does the 60-130 times look on this car. Has anyone run them?

when you say gearing and traction ...how can it still compensate for an additional weight of 600 lbs compared to c6z06 and still run pretty much the same time A stock z06 dynos about 440whp...

It is hard to believe but alot of the GTRs impressive times are really achieved all in the first 60 ft. AWD helps a ton and the automatic gear box makes it easy to do over and over. I love watching the power split on mine when I take off from a light because it really shows how the technology helps with the traction. It also shows that the computers use it only when it is needed(from a stand still, accelerating through a turn). Its very complex but very efficient.

I think you are to concerned with the weight compared to other vehicles. Once the car gets moving off the line with the tq its all HP to get the trap speeds. Horse power is Horse power and trap speeds indicate that no matter what the weight is. Prime example is a supra with 700 hp running 12s but trapping at 130+. It suffered from a horrible launch and 60ft but shows it has the power with its trap and its a 3800lbs car also.

All the haters(not saying you are a hater) keep saying its a ringer or its cheating but in reality it is just using technology the best way it can to cope with its weight and size.
