newbie

im planning on a gtr in june of 2011 to use as a daily driver for very mild suburban driving of about 6000 mi/yr. i will also do about 8 track days/yr as an intermediate level driver. i do not push the car that hard

what kinds of problems can i expect esp on track? does the trans or engine overheat? brake fade? i have used a 95 ferrari spider, 99 boxster and an 07 gt3 for these purposes and have had no issues at all

also when will the updated 2012's reach dealers?

thanks

from what I have read over the last several weeks

the stock GTR should be ok. It seems to be more of a problem when you start the unavoidable mods....I just cant see me not adding atleast a midpipe and tune...
I will know more after the November Audi Club Event at VIR....

wow love that s4. we have an 06 sprint blue/grey interior one. added the cf spoiler and painted grill black too. didnt go for the bumper swaps or lowering though. was lowering the car a problem?

btw, the reason i posted about overheating gtr trans was bc the tiptronic in the s4 overheated when in sport mode. was ok in normal mode.

Thanks....The body was the factory DTM package. The coilovers and Hotchkis RS swaybars changed the car !!! I didnt let anyone touch that car, so I changed the coilovers myself and it was not a bad job at all. The only thing was getting the ride height dialed in. When you raise/lower one side it obviously affects the other, its like hitting a moving target. Ride quality was the same or better than stock and with the Hotchkis rear I was able to make the car damn near neutral !! bringing the rear of the s4 around on command was a huge accomplishment!!! I will miss it for sure !! The GTR is growing on me though......

The GT-R does seem to overheat on the track while pushing it hard in hot weather for over 20 mnutes. The 2012 is suppose to have some better cooling through different duct work and panel work etc. If you are looking for a new GT-R wait for the newest model to come out. It has about 50 more hp, a bunch of little tweaks, and slightly bigger breaks. This is a better car than all the others.

Well, yes the tranny over heats when going through a track session for over 25 mins.

Nothing wrong really but a few issues are known suck as gearbox rttles that are totally normal and expected.

The newer model will come with better cooling, more power, better interior, larger and fade resistant breaks(old breaks don't fade anyways), many chasis tweaks and will be a decent amount faster than old GTR.

On the other hand you can get pretty good deals on 2011 models.

Head over to nagtroc and browse through threads that help.

Hope it helps.
