Considering 2011 GTR - Help

Hi, all,

Is it possible through aftermarket modifications to make a 2011 GTR nearly identical to a 2012? That includes the difference in power through the same means that Nissan achieved it (from my understanding, it was through a tune and a different down pipe), as well as the improved launch control. A 2012 would cost me about 10k more, but if the power and launch control can mostly be sorted by a tune, which I'm assuming is far less than 10k, then I feel like the 2011 would be a good route. Power is power, so I think the launch control is my main concern. Also, can anyone comment on other differences that may be important in my decision?

Thanks for any insight or guidance you can provide.

Cobb AP will do it with a mid pipe. Add the '12 turbo inlets and you'll pull on a '12 easily.... So. Looking at under 2.5k for mods and you'll beet out what the stock '12s run.

Even a 2010 upgraded with same parts I'll do it as they r identical for the most part mechanically as a '11 and may run you even cheaper.
Cheers

2012 inlets make a huge difference once you tune with a Cobb. We'll be doing a write up on our findings. We tested the inlets on a car with DP, Midpipe, and intakes. You won't believe the gains!

GT-RR even has a DBA bumper that's relatively inexpensive if you wanted to facelift the front end as well. It's nice being cross-compatible with both CBA and DBA lips so you can run whatever front splitter you want.

This is great info to have, as getting a GT-R is always in the back of my mind. That might also explain the high resale on 09-10's (essentially, 11's are pretty far and few in between I take it).

Okay, I'll be the odd one out - I recommend paying the additional $10k and getting a '12. I think it's that much of an all around better car.

From resale perspective the GT-R is a better value and then you have another year of warranty. Being the only driver of the 12, you know how the car was "broke in" and how it was cared for through it's life. 2012 better deal in my view too regardless of power comparo!

I have driven the '11 and purchased a '13, after driving my GTR and looking back on my driving impressions of the '11 I feel as if the '13 was more "complete" dare I say. But the power can be made up with an AccessPort.

Out of the 5 LC (TCM) versions, LC4 is one of the best (5 is smoother, but may lend itself to more clutch wear, if you launch a lot).
Same transmission in all cars, but a few minor parts have been modified (i.e. gear select fork, etc...).

It is a new chassis setup.

It is not just the aformentioned improvements, but rather a whole new interior (new dash, high def screen, console surrounds, *****, buttons, seats, etc...), a comfort mode that works, and an overall better balance (compared to the CBA-R35).

There are so many small improvements, they really do equal more than the price difference of the 11 (CBA) vs 12 (DBA).

And it would cost a little bit more (in my opinion) to get the performance of the DBA into the CBA chassis. Obviously, this does not matter in straight line as much, but rather in overall feel or track use.

There is a lot more to be said about the 12 over the 11 (minus the ~40HP increase, and how it got there).

I have full exhaust & tune on my 11...walk right away from 12's

And whoever asked there's only 300something 11's out there. Some creature comforts from the 12 model year made it into the 11's (HD Nav etc...)
