That isn’t necessary coolant. Moisture builds up on those caps all the time. Engines are not perfectly sealed. I have seen it on many cars, all of which were fine.

mitchel,
that looks like the same thing that todd had going on w/ his oil cap. you and matt checked it out on that drive we did towards mt. baker. he had it looked at and they told him it wasn't coolant.

i hope that yours is okay. =( i'll cross my fingers for you!

I wouldn't worry to much about it. If you have been doing a bunch of short on/off & going from a warm place to a cold one, it's kind of normal to have some moisture under the cap.

If you pull the dipstick & see it on there, then you might have a problem. Clean it off, & drive for a while, see if it returns.

the emulsion on my oilcap is caused by the coolant/water/oil mixing.

there's oil and coolant (milkshake) on my dipstick which results in this.

I drove my car pretty hard last night... and I found that after that.

( I had open roads at 4am, it was fun!)

mitchel,

when you have it fixed, let me know exactly what you had to do. i'm curious about todd's now. i haven't seen it on his since that drive, but in case it comes back i'd like to know what you had to do w/ yours.

Pull out his dipstick and if you see something like what's pictured below, it's time to be worried.

j/k j/k. =) todd's goes in to cantrells for an oil change anyway. if there is still an issue, he'll see it then and check it out.

happy new year!

I'm not surprised after seeing the pictures of your other problems. I'd say you have yourself another parts car! Enjoy!

no way Larry.

This car will be my damn casket one way or another.

car still pulls strong, I can't imagine what she'll do with headwork =)

as of this weekend, my car has...

a new ltw flywheel
new kevlar clutch
new short shift kit with new linkage and delrin bushings, new flex disc and a newer transmission...I'm running out of things to break, this cooling system is the last thing to break really =)
