PIR, check
PIR, check
June 12 (proformance)
PIR
fun track, nice weather, wrong tire choice (PS2)
Highlights: no offs, hearing a 996 cup car at full song blow right by me, beginning to learn a new track, good instructor, meeting some great new people, new track surface like glass, and of course my fellow 6speeder in attendance -- Jeff Hay!
I had heard so many good things about PIR that I was a little worried that I would start wanting to do less at PR and more at PIR... not the case for me. PIR was great but I really missed the elevation changes that PR has... I did not miss the cracks, patches, bumps and holes of PR
though.

happy father's day to you!
thanks!
We had a great time and I'm convinced Don Kitch controls the weather. The last 4 Proformance days I've been to started out looking like rain, but turning beautiful by lunch.
PIR is a great track. It outclasses Pacific on pretty much all levels. Though I agree with PJ that the elevation changes at Pacific make it more interesting. The front straightaway at Portland is about 20mph slower because the chicane shortens it but its still plenty fast. Hitting turn 1, code brown at 120 and trail braking through is pretty damn exciting. The rest of the track is faster overall than Pacific cause there are no hairpins that make you slow all the way down. The lines are good and let you carry a lot of speed through the turns. PS2s did fine but are very squeally. I would have killed for my RA1s once I saw the weather turn nice. I am loving the Softronic plenum and software I just put in. I can't wait to go again.
Oh yeah, the day's pics are up on this site. Pete shoots pretty much every track day he's at.

Jeff and PJ,
Thanks for the update and pix. For the amount of work I did last week probably could have snuck out and not missed any business. Glad all was good and fun w/shiney side up.

There was a white GT2 there that was widowmaker fast, too. Everytime I let him by all I could think about was Mark advising that kid in that thread not to get one, and wondering if the driver was one of the 2 or one of the other 8...
I saw those folding seats! When I finally do seats, I want those, cause they have the side airbags in them. Apparently, Porsche wants $9k for them when they sell them as parts. I think they are less than half that when ordered as an option. Maybe I should start thinking about getting a new car....
