Running
definitely go to a running store and have them pick out the right shoes for you...a good balance is running every other day and do core strengthening in b/w...run different routes so your body doesnt go into cruise control and look into a local running club w/a coach...it really shapes u up...my pace/time improved dramatically running w/others
Yeah I'm definitely going to pick up some new running shoes. I have a running partner. What I like to do is google map my area & make a route for my run depending on the distance I want to run that day. I have a 1.8 Mile circle around my area that I do on my off days and the longer distance days I'll be changing it up. I also plan on eventually running from my home to my work which is ~10 miles with a large uphill & downhill.
mixing in hills and doing repetive sprints will speed up your strength/performance...save the long distances on the wkends...mixing your runs/core training will allow the body/muscles to repair/recover while you work on other areas

you def. need to break it up. If you run everyday you don't give those muscles enough time to heal. There is a great book I will try and remember for you. Runners world was a big supporter of the book and goes over a 3-2 program where you run 3 days a week and do cardio stuff the other 2 http://www.runlessrunfasterbook.com/...runfasterbook/
The book makes alot of sense, and I was working this way till I got a bad stress fracture in my shin

one other thing to definitely get is a heart rate monitor. I went with one of the Garmin ones that also has a GPS in the watch to accurately track your speed & distance. Nice geeky toy to play with too!.
