Yes it is there first event,i do believe its a 1/4M for membership.
He suggested track insurance.
Track insurance is usually prohibitively expensive. I think that most "regular" policies will cover you if the car isn't being used in a "competitive event." As long as they aren't timing the event, and there are no rankings, you are normally covered. Take that advice for what it cost you, though. I'd call your agent.
EDIT: By prohibitively expensive, I just mean not worth it for a single driving event. I think it's usually a couple grand for a policy with a very high deductible that is good for the whole year. I don't think there are a lot of policies for a single event, with a reasonable deductible (let's say $5,000), for say $1,000. Maybe I'm wrong. The likelihood of really getting into it is very remote, and even then you're on the hook for $10-20,000 before the normal track insurance kicks in. I'd probably rather take my chances.
