Wheel spacers

I am in the process of ordering a 2011 Panamera Turbo. One of the options is rear wheel spacers. I currently have the factory wheel spacers on my C4S Cab, however, it does not seem like they are necessary on the Panamera. Anyone have any thoughts on this. Thanks.

As an outsider to your process, my first thought is why not? If offered by the factory, a wider stance always look nice (except of course for the ridiculous low riders).

Since you're buying a Panamera TT, you must have some appreciation for handling and grip, so why not maximize by going with a factory option?

They are absolutely needed on any of the OEM wheels. I have 20in TurboII wheels on mine. Before I added spacers in the rear (7mm in my case), the wheels looked like they sat inside the car. The spacers pushed them out just far enough to be almost flush with the outer edge of the car.

In fact, I've been considering 5mm spacers for the front as well.

Where did you get the spacers?

I got them from KrafTechnik. I can't remember if they were a sponsor here or if it was another site, but apparently the site is being either rebuilt or something else is up because there's nothing but a logo on the page now.

Anyway, I bought H&R spacers from them. I had a C2S with 7s in the front and 14s in the rear. When I trade for the P2S, I sold the 14s and used the 7s for the rear of the P2S.

Spacer Photo Please

I do not understand how a spacer works.

Would someone please post a photo of a spacer.

Does it make the wheel / car interface weaker than stock?

Thanks, JohnnyB

Here's how one of the various suppliers word it:

"If you want to have a wider look spacers are what you need, and these spacers will do the trick, these are not your universal wheel spacers but Wheel Spacers made for your Porsche. The factory Porsche Wheels are a little to tucked, these spacers give your wheels that look that is almost flush to your Rear Quarter Panels or Front Fenders, helping you achieve that wider look and that nice wheel well finished look, you not only signifincatly improve the appearance but you also improve handling, these Wheel Spacers maximizes vehicle track width for great looks, lowered roll center, and increased lateral stability."

Here are a couple of threads from the 997 board:

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...l-spacers.html

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...cers-dont.html

There are also a TON of additional thread on the 997 and Boxster/Cayman boards. I'd suggest glancing through those if you want to find out more.

Do the spacers lessen the amount of threads the lug nuts purchase?

If I understand your question correctly, you can use standard bolts with 5mm spacers, but for anything thicker than a 5mm spacer, you need longer bolts.

For instance:

7mm spacers require 40mm bolts
14mm spacers require 45mm bolts

Make sense?

^using stock bolts for 5mm spacer is pushing the edge. would not recommended. gotta get new longer bolts for it.
