I looked at Oil-filter cover to oil guide housing, not the lid on oil filter housing.

FYI I did the work today and I measured 19.1 ft/lbs on my snapon tools torque wrench while taking the oil filter cover off. The dealer did the last change. Hopefully this helps.

Thanks a lot! That's great help. I agree 19 ft lbl should be enough for oil filter cover.

Glad to help and to get this documented. Also I noted the bolts in the aluminum frame you can remove to get to the oil filter were torqued at 18-20ft/lbs (measured)

You'll need an 8mm allen wrench to loosen the drain plug.

The filter is closest to the front passenger side. A standard 36mm socket wont remove the filter housing. Too deep. You'll need a shallow 6pt. Available from Sears German-made:

How many inches do you have to get a socket in? I have (not a deep) 36mm socket I used on my 997. I m asking about a v6 non turbo.

just checked and I can reach it from the top with lots of room for any 36 mm socket on a v6 non turbo. Maybe the v8 s are tighter.
