How do I turn off audio at startup?

Even if I push the sound off before I turn off the car, it still turns on at startup. Every time. So if I have friends with me, the radio comes blaring on every time the car starts. How can I change this? Thanks!

Best I can tell, you CAN'T change this. I guess those German engineers figure it's best to always start your drive with the AC/DC blasting!

Put it in AUX input mode when you turn off the car.

turn the volume down and set the memory that way. The car starts with memory defaults each time I believe.

I've tried every trick in the book, including turning the volume all the way down...and the car still starts with sound on. Btw, what is AUX mode?

Yeah, the volume didn't work for me. AUX did. I forget if I saved it into my key.

AUX is the stereo mini-plug input in the console.

Either press Source plastic button or keep pressing DISC till you see AUX and then SET memory.

I've been testing out the AUX setting and I can't get it to program into my entry and drive key memory.

If I leave the system in AUX it stays in AUX for any next driver, regardless of their key. But if I save the car's settings with AUX enabled into my key memory the car will still start up with whatever the last person left on.

I've just gotten used to starting the car, turning on the sport exhaust, turning on sport mode, turning off the stereo...

Certainly does seem, with this level of brilliant engineering, that this stuff could be programmed in! A good friend and I were making jokes about it last year on a climbing trip...we were listening to warp volume rock music on the Burmester, every time we started the car it was like HOLY CRAP!
