Suggested Tires - 2013 Panamera GTS

Gents...I believe there was some prior input on this topic, but for the life of me I cannot find it. So, thanks in advance.

I have the dreaded Pirelli's on my OEM 20's, and am likely to replace the tires in January (I at least got 9000 miles out of them). I am 100% going to the Michelin's, but wanted advice re: PS2 or the PSS. I believe there was definite preference to the PSS, but could not recall.

Also, on most of my prior sports cars (997S, two M3's), etc, I was generally able to keep the fronts for every 2x I had to replace the rears. This time, while not exactly equal, the fronts are wearing down pretty hard as well, such that I likely need to replace all four at the same time. I assume this makes sense given that this car is AWD?

Thanks!

I am having Michelin PS2 installed right now. The GTS came with Goodyears, which I was completely happy with, but I wanted to try the Michelins. I'll let you know what I think of them.

The fronts definitely wears equally as the rears on mine, might be the heavier front. Reaching 10k on the Pirellis and I am losing tractions on launch control.

I've read that the PSS are quitter than the PS2 and perform as well while being cheaper!

Thanks tony...I am at 7500 miles, and still have not done a Launch Control...ha I am such a puss!! how awesome is it? Issue is that I am not really sure where to do it?H have you ever done it just blazing away from a stoplight?

I am def leaning toward the PSS.....regardless, anything will be better than the Pirelli's they just suck

Launch Control is pretty awesome. Don't do it if you have whiplash!

Gents - any experience with the Bridgestone Potenza's? I've used them in the past on BMWs and have had good experiences!

I'm in the same boat with my '14 GTS, I have the all season Pirelli's and need to get rid of them in the spring.

Thanks

I too came from a BMW which had Bridgestone Potenza RFT and they were horrible. For slightly more money, I decided to replace them with Michelin PSS and they are wonderful. They have better grip (dry and wet), suppose to last longer and are a lot quieter.

Now in my panamera, I moved from Continentals to Michelin PSS. Again, the Michelin tires are quieter and grip better. I would definitely get either PS2 or PSS again. I think PSS and PS2 cost about the same and grip is equal.

Hey there...With the new PSS', assuming they have stiffer sidewalls than conti or Pirelli's, what kind of tire pressure are you running as a DD for best performance handling? I am at like 43 cold on the Pirelli's since they are so squirrely sidewalls....

You definitely gotta launch this car once to know how awesome it is! I do it on empty backroad. Plenty around here in the Bay Area.

I'm in the Bay Area and can't think of many places I could use LC. Do you have any suggestions?

I got the PS2s today and they feel very comfortable (even at 42/47 pressures) on the road and they're quiet as far as I can tell so far. Don't know about grip, I'll have to test that out.

South Bay has lots of roads to do that. Roads there are wider and some are definitely empty during the weekends.

I'm just north of SF and you don't find many empty roads around here. You have to go out to the country.

I have just over 13k on my GTS and PS2 still look pretty good but prob only have one more summer. I like the PSS as my next tire. I have not yet done launch control.

That's about what was set on my new PS2s. After a long drive today, over all sorts of roads, I think the pressure is too high. It's not quite as smooth going over rough roads/train tracks/etc. as the old Goodyears which had lower pressure. I'm going to lower the pressure all around 3-4 psi and try again.
