Problem with heated steering wheel.

Very often after I switch on the heated steering wheel, it will shut off by itself after about 5 mins. And I cannot switch it back on unless I restart the car. Other times it works fine without shutting off. Anyone has the same issue?

None such here. Might be something as simple as a software glitch. At any rate, that's not supposed to happen and a visit to the dealership may be in order.

I could be wrong here but I know the heated seats have a thermostat in them and when the seat and / or the ambient temperature reaches a certain level they no longer heat - I wonder if the same thing happens with the steering wheel?

The heated steering wheel stays on until I turn it off, which is anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes. It has not turned off by itself. Mine is also a 2011.

Problem solved, I think. I noticed each time the heated steering shut off by itself it happened within 1 minute after it was switched on, and each time I had switched it on right after I started the car, and I also switched on both front heated seats. But if I waited for about 10 seconds before I switched these things on, the heated steering did not switch itself off. I set the round LCD screen to show the battery voltage, when the car is first started the voltage is about 12V, it takes about 10 seconds for it to rise to over 14V. Therefore, when the heating features are switched on right after the car is started, the battery voltage rises very slowly due to the large current draw, perhaps some kind of protection circuit kicks in and shuts off the heated steering. Yesterday I was doing many short trips, as long as I waited for about 10-15 seconds before I switched on the heated steering, it never shut off by itself. Or perhaps the battery on my 3 1/2 years old car is getting weak.

When the engine is running, my voltage is around 14.7V. The moment I start the engine, the voltage is about 12V and rises to over 14V within a few seconds, is that normal? I do not have problem with the heated steering as long as I switch it on a few seconds after the engine is started.
