2010 PTT Gone

Mixed feelings about this post-
2010 PTT bought 3 years ago; and it had its share of issues -
- multiple trips to the dealer to get front end noises sorted out - upper and lower control arms, other bits - worked for awhile then returned.
- HPFP replacement
- Air compressor replaced
- Horns replaced twice
- thermostat replaced
- rear shock replaced
numerous other small items

Now - on the plus side, the service manager was great and they were easy to work with. But, as the CPO ended, I no longer felt comfortable keeping, and the price to go aftermarket for a warranty was too high.

Impression after 3 years of ownership -
- car is quiet on smooth open highway. On less than perfect roads, it rattles more than it should.
- noisy parts of the car - rear hatch motor, air compressor for suspension, fan for the A/C - why so loud?
- excellent handling when pushed a bit - feels much better in sport mode. Have not driven anything as flat in the curves that is this size.
- transmission is clunky - software updates helped some - Much better in 2014 or newer models
- Burmeister is very nice, better than Bose IMO
- utility of rear hatch excellent - made long trips possible
-excellent in snow with separate rim/snow tire set up
-sat radio reception not as good when compared to other cars in same locations - frequent drop outs
-very comfortable seats front and back, best of any car I have owned
-squealing brakes - why does it sound like a school bus?

That said, was on the lookout for a 14 or newer PTT or GTS; not many out there, particularly the GTS which I was leaning towards. Drove the usual contenders over the last few months - and found a 14 RS7 in mint condition which is my new ride.

Post this as a thank you to the forum members; and expect I will be back here in some form in the future

I love the PTT and have driven my buddies one for a bit while he had it. Phenomenal car. Felt a bit large to me around town but absolutely perfect on the freeway.

Why did you choose to look into GTS panamera vs the tt one? Any particular reason?

I have been looking to pick up a CTT for some time but also considered an RS7. But given 2 audis (one of them being an A6 with similar interior layout as RS7) in my family now wanted to get back to a Porsche.

Very interested in any comparison between RS7 and PTT? Handling, power, seats/comfort, feeling of 'size'...etc...Have not driven a RS7 yet

Good luck with the Audi. I have owned 2 Audi's and both were headaches when it came to rattles, maintenance items, suspension, trim, mechanical gremlins.

Wow really?

I have had my s4 for close to 3 years without as much as a hickup!! Same story with the wifes A6. Both have been solid as a rock, not a squeal, rattle or gremlin in either one. I feel like audi has really stepped up their game in recent years in all aspects of their cars (fit/finish, performance, reliability, etc).

The 2000 a4 I had a decade ago was a DIFFERENT story haha.

I feel like BMW still has a long way to go in terms of reliability. My most recent e92 335i has been in the shop 12 times in my 24 months of ownership.

I'd say dealer service has been the best at Audi out of all german brands.

The perfect reliability record is what wants me to stay with Audi but I will need a change coming up here shortly!!

Sounds to me like you just got a "dud" - both my 2010 PTT and 2013 PTTS have been quite reliable and feel rock solid on the road. I had a similar experience with 2 Mercedes s class sedans and I hardly ever consider MB for future vehicles because of them. My wife has a 2010 s5 Cab that has similar mileage and it definitely has more squeaks and rattles than the porsche at this point but it is a convertible so I chalk it up to that. The RS7 is a great looking ride and goes like stink so hopefully you will be happy - Congrats

I think that getting a first model year is always iffy - but it was in my price range at the time. I think that a similarly equipped GTS would be 7/8 ths of the fun as the TT; having driven both I was could go either way. Much harder to find a GTS than a TT.
This is my first Audi -and like the PTT, I got it CPO's for 4/100K, so we shall see about upkeep....

I'm a huge Audi fan! Interested to hear thoughts on rs7 vs PTT . I would def consider a panny GTS but yeah very hard to find , more so than rs7 actually. I'm an odd ball, but I prefer the styling of the rs7 but the NA motor of the GTS, even tho the Audi is a monster. Rs7 looks a little bit smaller inside too?

I've had a similar experience. My 2011 PTT, currently with only 36K, is the best 4 door drive ever, I love the car, but it has cost me many trips to the PC. In fact it's there right now, again... The electronics are the problem with mine.

Yeah I think the dealers told me overall they see last panameras from 2012 and on, and 2013 and on are slightly more reliable or at least come in More rarely. I spoke to two different high volume porsche dealers both the sales guys and service advisors agreed.

I guesSo I gotta mark a 2010 off the list unless it has super comprehensive warranty, I like the GtS anyways just reminds me too much of my cayenne GtS and feels duplicative. That truck is staying
