970 Problem with windshield reflection of chrome clock ring
970s have a clock with a chrome bezel ring (sic) that reflects onto the windshield in an annoying manner. On 971s there is a new panel for the clock with a hood over the clock, and the ring is no longer chrome.
I though a "fix" for my 970 might be to remove the clock and paint the chrome flat black. Found an easier solution. A vendor on Amazon sells decorative clock rings for $14.99 in either red or blue. Bought one and painted it flat black. It usually mounts with included double-sided tape, but I wanted a tighter mount so I removed the tape and used Crazy Glue. Here is the Amazon reference:

I don't have an issue with ring or the Burmester grilles that everyone says cause reflection issues. Maybe it's because the windshield is tinted but I think it looks classy and never have an issue driving. Good find on the ring though!
Pardon the thread hijack on a somewhat similar issue... I have a '13 Turbo with the Luxor Beige interior and although I love the color, I occasionally get an annoying reflection on the windshield from the dash. Is there a remedy to this?
SantaCruzRed. Focus on just what is reflected. If it is the entire dash, then maybe the best remedy is a non-reflective dash cover. I had one for my Jaguar whose dash leather was very sensitive to UV radiation. It was tailor made; and I used it only when parking in the sun for extended periods.
If the major element of the refection is bright work, then consider some sort of covering of just the bright work. The dash clock chrome ring, in my case, was the major/sole element of reflection.

The "problem" is more an annoyance issue than a safety issue. The idea, however effective, of tossing a bath mat on my dash is not so desirable. The reflection is only "sometimes" and is a function of angle of incidence, sun position, etc... none of which are constant. The driving dynamics of the car far, far out weight this minor inconvenienced. I'll look for a better pair of UV sunglasses?
yeah, just pickup a pair of polarized sunglasses and 99% of the glare goes away, I have a Cognac dash so the glare can get rather distracting but the Polarized sunglasses do the trick ( or in my case clip-on's since I wear glasses)
with the Burmester grills being right in the corners of the window I've really never notice the glare too much, could also be since I have a light colored dash it might just be drowned out.
I wear Ray-Ban's in the PTT w/ a Cognac dash and I don't notice any glare whatsoever. I have the thermally and noise insulated glass option - maybe that helps to reduce or eliminate glare?
