CarPlay installed

Hey all. 2011 PTT and just had the Navi Plus CarPlay system installed. Work done by Seismic Audio in Concord, CA. Pre fab box and audio mobile sub purchased from Audio Designs (link below). Amp is Zapco.

Just got the car back tonight so jury is still out on performance of the sub. CarPlay is pretty cool so far

Usb for car play installed here, along with gain control ****.

New custom floor panel with vent for sub and amp to the right.

The prefab sub box.

Nicely done and clean install. I see you have upgraded your speakers and sub. How is the audio sound? Assuming you had the Bose factory speakers.

Only replaced the sub. Prior owner installed some hot garbage that took up half the trunk space. Burmeister not Bose.

Good to know. I too have the Burmeister and was worried about the quality of the sound.

Hello @davidci,

If you don't mind, what was the cost to install the carplay? Also, does the shop carry the carplay hardware?

Thanks,
bongsta

I don’t want to give a cost because he gave me a quote and I think it was harder than he expected. Plus, I paid one fee for everything, don’t know the break out.

He does not carry. You have to order the Navi plus online (he can probably order for you, but no point)

Thanks for the reply. I'll give the shop a call to get a quote.

Is there a wireless option to this mod? Or the cable has to be connected for the carplay to work?

Does anyone have any experience with a similar unit made by Sinairyu?
Same as JoyeAuto but different branding?

Just completed the Joyeauto Wireless CarPlay add-on in my 970. All functions seem to work as advertised ... I'll give a complete run-down after a week or so of use.

The install instructions / videos leave a fair amount out. The installation is really no worse than building a PC computer from parts --- just have to be careful in the daughterboard installation inside the PCM and running the new cables and harness behind the PCM. Took about 5 hours total spread out over two days.

Components appear to be of high quality --- the daughterboard I received had RFI shielding which did not appear in the installation video (an improvement ?)

I'll add photos and learnings in my future add-on to this thread.

Wireless Android Auto shows up on my Joyeauto menu.
Haven't tried it out, so i don't know how well it works.

I just installed the Joyeauto Car Play system yesterday and it's working great and as advertised. I was extremely fortunate and found a local forum member who had already done his own install and agreed to help me w/ mine. Actually, he installed mine for me while I watched and helped. He got it done in less than 3 hours and we took our time and very careful w/ the ribbon cables and all connections. As others have posted, it's a very high quality system and my kit was complete, including the stand-off's to mount the board above the XM card. Another happy camper!
