Hi guys. I have some questions related to this DRL issue. I have a 2010 Pan 970, my DRLs are on the bumber and not on the headlight assembly. I upgraded my highbeam bulbs to LEDs. After doing so, I noticed that my DRL on the right side (passenger side) died. I inspected my bumper DRL and looked closely inside the lens...I could see the LEDs are minimally lit maybe around 2% and flickering. My question is, is the DRL module of the OP the same as mine? Is it located on the headlight unit even if my DRLs are on the bumper incorporated on the turn signal assembly (please see picture)? My bumper mounted DRLs
I also noticed some wires that lost their insulation inside the headlight assembly but i did electrical tape only on the ones I worked with for the highbeam H7 receptacle. Should I also tinker around those other wires inside the headlight assembly to see if my bumper DRLs come on? Or is my DRL module located somewhere else?
You have a non-turbo Panamera from the look of it. The turbo model, like mine, have completely different headlights and bumper lights.
What I would try is putting back in the normal high beam bulbs and seeing if that fixes it. On the turbo headlights at least, there is a surprising amount of electrical smarts in the headlights, I recall seeing 2 or 3 separate modules in my headlights and it might not like the change you did.
Thanks for this immediate response! You're right. Mine is not a turbo sorry.
What I did was remove the two headlight assemblies, freeing up the system from whatever module the headlight assemblies have that are affecting my DRL's on the bumper. Then I started the engine to see if my DRL's would light up....Guess what...the DRL on the right remains to be lit at a flickering 2% and the left remains to be 100% fine. So, I guess there are no modules on the headlight assemblies that affect the DRL's. Should I just buy a used or new DRL assembly off ebay then? Worried that even if I get a new one the problem will persist. That's $250 bucks wasted :-(
So here's what I plan to do next... take out the bumper (in time for my air filter change), take out the functioning left DRL assembly and plug it on to the right wiring harness so that we'll finally find out if there's really something wrong with the DRL assembly OR wiring harness or electrical system. I hope its just the DRL assembly as it will be more challenging to solve an electrical or harness issue. My question is, will the right side electrical plug for the right DRL FIT the left DRL assembly?
Ok, so here's an update. I disengaged the wiring harness from the back of the DRL/Turn Signal assembly on the bumper. There's a tab on the right side which you have to push to be able to pull the connector out. I basically, checked for current for each of the pins so that I know if there's current coming from DRL, Park Light and Turn Signal Light. Here's what I found out... You can pull out the connector without taking down the bumper through a slot beside the radiator Here's my testing equipment. Connected one end to the ground (-) and a needle tester probe for the pins (+) Here are the corresponding currents drawn from each pin of the connector of the DRL/Turn Signal Assembly on a Panamera 970 2010 (NON-TURBO)
So, the long and short of it is that, there is current coming form the wiring harness to supply the park lights, the turn signal and most specially the DRL function. So I conclude that the DRL bulbs or circuitry on the assembly is busted or there's something loose inside this assembly. I think I don't need to swap the DRL's left to right to check this right? Will just order a new air filter, take down the bumper and order from ebay or pelican parts a new DRL/Turn Signal assembly. Let me know if there's anyone selling a used right hand side DRL assemble out there! :-) Thanks!
Here's a video of how the right DRL flickers and flashes as I play around connecting and disconnecting the wiring harness. The lights would not stay constantly on. Is it time to buy a new DRL/Rurn signal assembly???

Hey man. Any luck with your DRL issue?
Have the same problem on my 2010 turbo.
Bought a new DRL unit, but no light.
Signal light in the same housing works fine, but it looks like there is no juice coming from the pins for DRL.
