Oil change reminder reset

Recently had an oil change done on my 2012 Turbo by an independent shop (very reputable one that specializes in German cars including Porsche), and they tell me they were unable to reset the oil change reminder light on the dash

anyone experience this before or know what could be causing it?

I only have a generic OBD2 scanner, don’t have any of the Porsche specific scanners so I can try to do it myself (although maybe I should buy one?)

any advice is appreciated

Did they say why they couldn’t reset it? Pendin their response a visit to the dealer would be the best option, diagnostic fee is maybe $100-200

They made it sound as though they did what they always do, but the car just wouldn’t accept it / light wouldn’t go away.

I use an icarsoft POR 2.0 scan tool it can reset maintence lights and CEL as well as live data. I think it’s around $150. I also bought one for my dad who has a 997s. I think it’s worth the investment if your going to own one of these cars. Even if you use it one time it’s worth the cost vs going to dealer.

Turbo Mike is correct, it is well worth the price to get that scanner.

I've used Foxwell NT530 to reset the intervals on my car. Not sure how that unit compares to other units but it worked for me and wasn't too expensive.

I have a hard time accepting a porsche shop has a hard time to clear oil change reminder....number of tools do it, and teh piwis2 they likely had, does it as well. Only thing coming to mind is they had no clue how to us the tool. This in turn, would tell me, find another shop.

Same Here i bought icarsoft POR 2.0 . I didn't use it yet but it seems it's important one to have handy.

Is is possible the Panamera that couldn't be reset wasn't driven much at all for a year/since the last oil change? I couldn't reset a Mercedes W204 (2009 C350) because it sat a long time without use. I was only able to revert back to prior the last reset then re-reset the last (prior year) service. This turned off the warning but....

Quick update on this... took the car back to the same shop (Indy) and they were able to reset it with no problems this time. Guess it was some sort of temporary glitch or something.
