Steering Rack Bushings

Gents,

any pointers where I can get a set of steering rack bushings? Have a ton of play in the rack to the point it's rattling and not really in the mood to spend 3k on a replacement when all it really needs is new bushings. Part only comes as a whole but have a good machine shop that would be able to swap them, if I was able to find any!

Pointers much appreciated as always.

This be them..

Begin with a Google search: "Porsche Panamera steering rack bushings." Good place to start.

Now why didn't I think of that?

Oh wait, I did. And have been looking for them for days.

They don't get sold separately. Hence me asking the gurus here.

If you found anything where I and others have obviously failed, please share.

Sorry. I tried also. Found bushing for a 928 , but nothing for a 970 Panamera. You could consider a "universal" bushing, but this requires first removal of your existing bushing for careful measurement. You may start partial measurement with old bushing in place - start with measuring the metal bolt hole.

Yeah, same here, thanks for trying and the suggestion. That's exactly what we're going to try to do. Will go take measurements and buy a few generic bushings to see what's a good fit. If all else fails, machine shop will do up teflon or poly bushings, and that it. Call me stubborn but I simply refuse to spend 2k/3k on something for just a 2 dollar bushing.

Please share with us your final result- basic measurements and/or an off-the-shelf bushing is applicable. Thanks.

Do the bushings have holes? Maybe fill them with urethane. Only other option is custom bushings or find which car has the same rack. My wife's touraeg has alot of parts that looks almost the same as panamera. I went on a hunt for touraeg bushing but only found last gen which led me to believe they were the same as pan. Other option is fcp. 1200 for new rack and just get a new one when bushings wear out again.

Did anyone ever find a cure for this? Trying to solve some issues and this would help a ton.

And no one has done this? Seems to be a common problem, I can’t be the only guy willing to tackle an adventurous job.
