Replacement for the Michelin PSS
Replacement for the Michelin PSS
Hello,
My Michelin Pilot Super Sports are nearing the end of their useful life and I am looking to purchase new summer tires for my '16 Panamera GTS. These tires are incredible summer tires, but are quite harsh and are awful in colder, non-snowy conditions.
As I live in the north where we get quite a bit of cold and snow, I have dedicated Michelin Alpin's winter tires that I use during the winter months. The Michelin PSS's, though, are just not good at all at temperatures less than 10 C (50 F) as they 'skip' and lose their grip considerably, forcing me to change to my winters in late October/early November and not changing back to my summers until late March/early April, even when the snow has disappeared.
I am looking for a great dedicated summer tire which rides more comfortably and deals with colder, non-snowy conditions better than the Michelin PSS's.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Tire America. I couldn't find the rear tires anywhere else and they also had the lowest listed price as well as a 10% off coupon so the price was great. I got the much less expensive non-N-spec version which, strangely enough, has a higher speed rating then the N-spec.
They're out of stock now. I see Tirerack has the fronts now but only one rear.

I don't know that those summer tires will be helping your cold weather issues. The AS4s have helped with mine. No more "acorn effect" since I got them and they feel as good as my PS2 and PSS did.

No. I need a tire that is better when the temperature drops below 10C (50F). As I stated in my original post, I have dedicated winter tires so I am looking for a summer tire that can handle cooler temperatures better than the PSS so I do not have to change them to my winters in late October/early November.
The Continentals may be an improvement for your use case, but you're better off having dedicated winter/summer setups and switch every 6 months. I change at the end of October and the end of April every year as we can still get surprise snow storms in the springtime here in the Rockies. All-season's are your only other option; they'll provide better mileage, eliminate the cold-weather acorn effect but you'll lose some performance. Many don't seem to notice the decrease in performance
