DB9 Speedo, Tach, Message Screen

I am looking at a low mileage 2007 DB9 Volante to buy.

A concern I have is with the mileage-message LED display.

The screen has a horizontal black line running through it as if one row of pixels is not properly illuminating.

What could be the cause? What is the remedy? How expensive to fix?

Thanks

Is that in pictures? Or in person? In pictures you'll see all sorts of strange blips in the screen that are not there in person.

on Audis it is symptomatic of the LED's dying in the DIS (driver info screen)

they can be removed & repaired but havent done it on an AM

google LED repairs or DIS repairs or look on the Audi forum for contacts/ referrals for repair

I'm sure there is DIY guide somewhere on removing the instrument cluster too

good luck

Graze

Make sure to ask if it's present on the display and is not just the picture, I saw 20 like that when searching for a car and anytime I saw one on a car I was interested in they always said it was just the picture.

Yeah, it's possible that it's because of the refresh rate of the screen vs. how fast the camera takes the picture. Ask for other pictures... if it's always in the same spot, it's an issue... if it moves or disappears, it's an image artifact.

I took a picture of my V8V dash the day I bought it. There are no issues with it when viewing it with your eyes, but the picture shows a big bar through the speed readout. That may be what's happening in your image, as others have suggested.

The sometimes happens when you photograph a screen. The refresh rate of the screen is caught by the camera lens. You don't see it with the naked eye...

You guys are Right!

It must have been an issue with the camera. I looked at the car yesterday, no problems.

So I bought the car.

This is my new ride. 2007 DB9 Volante. Aston Martin Racing Green with a full Sandstorm leather interior.

Yes this car was in SoCal. Called the day the ad broke on Autotrader. Two owner car. Spent it life so far in a climate controlled garage in the Palm Springs area.

Now the car will be driven as it should, not tucked away in an a/c garage only to be taken out for dinner at the club.

This is my first AM. Previously owned Porsche's Triumphs, Jaguar, Alfa's, so I am excited to learn about my new purchase and appreciate all of you who contribute to this forum. I feel like I have a learning curve to go through, and you all make it easier.

Thank you
Mark

Great traditional Aston shade of green. You don't see very many in that color; don't understand why that is the case. It'd be like seeing very few Ferraris in red. Good luck with your baby!

Same color at a local British car show...

Racing Green

Thank you for your compliment. Yes, I love the color.

In my search I was open to a number of colors, Blue, Red, Green. But most of the cars that were up for sale are Black, Silver, or White and that was not what I was looking for.

I am very happy that I ended up with the AM Racing Green, luck was on my side. For whatever reason, most of the colors that appealed to me were in Florida or on the East Coast. So when this one popped up within driving distance, I jumped on it.
