Mouse ate my fuel pressure sensor wires and many more!!! Grrrr!!!
Sharing my experience on my 99 C2 left in the garage for a week. Suddenly check engine light is on with high fuel pressure error code plus my fuel tank level gauge was showing it was empty with matching blinking light! Apparently, a Mouse or mice made their way into where the fuel pressure sensor is and fuel tank level sensor and chewed up the wires! He or they also chewed up the wires of the rear hatch micro switch :-( So, I Took the front battery out, got access to the float and sensor and soldered all the wires. They chewed up near the base of the plug so it was really a challenge putting this back together. Just sharing my experience with everyone and hope you won't have hungry mice eat your PCars. I was also very glad that the sensor is working and the float. This could have caused me serious $$$ if I ordered the parts without checking first.
Does anyone know an effective and safe way to deter mice from our cars?

If you were parked on grass or near grass for a while prior to the garage then more than likely the mice were already in the car. It’s very unlikely they would enter your car once in the garage.

Stay away from grass. The further the better.
thanks for this. No I didn't park anywhere near grass. I really think its in the garage as I caught a mouse once here. Any ideas on a spray or chemical we can spray in the engine bay and some other places inside the car so that they wont come in? Some smell or chemical that they hate or something like that but won't hurt humans? Im thinking or mouse poison pellets but they might expire inside the car and that's even a bigger problem

i place baited mouse traps in the garage. Make sure when garage door is closed, it is sealed properly. No food or open water inside the garage.
Dryer sheets, may or may not work. If work, only good for one month. Moth *****, in a sock, smell too much for me. I do use, peppermint oil as mice hate the smell. I also sprinkle fox powered urine to distracted them from entering garage.

Basically you want to make the area where the car is as uninviting to rodents as possible. Get stuff up off the garage floor. Mice do not like to move around in the open. If you can put baited traps along the where the garage floor and wall meet that's great. A dead mouse is just one less that can get in the car. A tiny smear of peanut butter in the trigger is all that is needed. You want the mouse to really have to work that trigger to cause it to go off.
Plug all holes where water pipes/gas pipes/etc go through the dry wall with steel wool. Be sure the vents that are in the foundation are intact so mice (or worse) can't get under the house/garage. The vents up high under the roof or in the attic need to be mice tight too.
A good deterrent against mice is capsaicin. Rodent/other animal control professionals use this stuff in some form. But you can't have pets walking in this stuff. You don't put it in the car but under the car/around the car. You have to be careful though even if you walk in it with your shoes you can possibly track this in the house and anyone walking barefoot or pets can be affected.
Google "capsaicin rodent repellent" and you'll get some links to info on commercial offerings and stuff you can cook up yourself and how to use it safely and effectively.
Thanks Macster. Will do some research on capsaicin. I tried to put mothballs (naphthalene) in empty water bottles and drilled some holes in them. Placed 2 of them in the engine bay where i suspect them to pass. I also placed them in screen teabags and placed them where the fuel pressure sensor and fuel float wires are. Going out for the holiday so that's a temporary fix. I also caught 2 mice already before I left. Hope my temp fix works while Im out for a week. This is the 2nd mouse i caught. I installed 3 traps. Next question is how do I kill Mickey? Sorry not used to murdering animals hahaha.

Capsaicin is a just chili pepper extract, might be worth spreading a pepper around. Bromethalin might be worth looking too, this article states it kills mouse within an hour and it would be enough in case of small infestation.
Currently using mothballs (naphthalene) inside empty pet water bottles with holes. Keeps the mice out...for now. I strategically place them inside the engine compartment on suspected entry points and where I saw their droppings. I take the mothball bottles out when I use the cars and place them back in when I park in the garage. It's a hassle but it has been 2 months now since my last mouse attack. I can live with that.
