Proud owner of a 2002 GT2. Couple questions...
Well I sold my Z06 and have moved up to a 996 GT2. I am excited to say the least. The car has almost 9000 miles and I know I will feel better about driving her after I do all the needed fluid changes and what not.
Problem is there is not a whole lot of maintenance related info specific to the GT2...there seems to be plenty for the 996 TT..problem is I dont know what info can be applied to the GT2 as well as the TT.
I have been on the fourm for hours it seems and have learned a ton of info. However there are still a few questions I wouldnt mind having straight answers to.
1- Are there any good GT2 specific DIY's for oil change, diff fluid change, and transmission fluid change?
2- Is there a good place to find all the recommended GT2 fluids for these services?
A- What type of fluids are recommended for the trans, diff, and motor oil? What are the recommended capacities for these fluids?
3- Is there a specific DIY for coolant exchange?
A- What type of coolant is used and how much? (Texas heat can be a real drag if you are not prepared!)
The reason I ask these questions is because I really enjoyed doing all the maint on my C6 Z06 and always felt that things were done RIGHT after I finished. It saved time and money as well.
Thank you all fro any and all help!
I plan on using all Amsoil fluids as I did w my Z. If this is any help.

Is this Eric Carvers old car? If so, this car is making more than double the stock power.
Don't be afraid because if properly modded and tuned (and this car has top shelf mods all the way) with quality fuel, the Metzger motor will run all day every day and very reliably at those power levels.
However, normal maintenance goes out the window, this is a race car and must be treated accordingly. Fluids must be changed much more frequently than normal.
The best advice is to take it to a mechanic like Steve Ott here in Houston, or at least get some one knowledgeable to advise you on maintenance.

Thanks for the advice. Thats kind of why I started the thread.... The minute its home to Austin...should be Tuesday.... I plan on doing all the fluid maintenance. This isnt my 1st highly modded car, but it is my 1st Porsche. The learning curve, when going from the cars I had to this one is huge. Soooo much different. I would be happy to have any and all info I can before I get her home. Thanks again!
Soooo 75w 90 seems to be the right weight lubricant fro the trans. Is this correct?
5w 40 seems to be the correct weight for the engine oil. Amsoil has always treated me well. I think I will stick with it.
Any other info would be great!

Not really much to compare. The GT2 is the superior car in every way. I've owned both, so I'm speaking from experience.
