seafoam

1st i wanna say, Hi, and im not sure if this is right section to post this.

http://www.seafoamsales.com/motorTuneUpTechGas.htm
i was reading about it on an E30 website. the guys over there said it improved idle, and various other things, removes carbon. i guess you put 2/3 in the gas and u suck up the other 1/3 into the vacumm lines. to clean the injectors, valves and manifolds. not sure if i would use it with a turbo.

anyone have input i want to use it in my 77 911s

Sorry to dig up this old thread (2 months old).
But in case you never got an answer.

Seafoam = diluated acetone.

Putting it in the gas tank, acts the same as fuel system cleaner. Cleans the gas tank all the way to the fuel injectors. (Althought the best way to clean injectors would be to send them out for professional cleaning).

The vacuum line...cleans some of the engine internals.

Lastly, putting it in the oil. Much like other crankcase cleaners...it attempts to clean out the old burnt oil. Just be sure to do an oil change afterwards to put in fresh oil.

Thumbs up Using Seafoam

I've used this on a older delivery van I picked up. It was a Chevy Astro with the 4.3L. It had sat with old gas for approximately 2 years. Upon driving it the first time it was running rough as expected. I had heard of people using this for boats and RV's that get stored for half the year. So we tried it and it worked wonders on it. At first it blew tons of carbon out the exhaust, but than burned clean as it purged from the system. It worked well for that application, but I am not endorsing it only because I have no experience with it in turbo vehicles. I only used it once but for that one experience it worked well.

I have used it and it works really well. I noticed a large decrease in gas consumption.

another amen on that. used it and car ran awesome and clean afterwards. Smog test proven (produced very very very low emission for a 10 year old car)

You should be able to get to one easy on the intake, there are plenty. Be careful not to load up the engine with the stuff or else it will set off the check engine light. Just keep up the revs when adding it.

I'm new to the 996. I'm looking at the engine bay and cannot find where the vacuum line is located. Could someone please point out specifically where this is located?

Thanks

Do 33% in the gas tank, 33% in the oil, and 33% in the vac line..

I got an O2 sensor CEL shortly after introducing seafoam to my gas tank. Coincidence or not, I'll never know.....

it says O2 Sensor safe. but searching around it seems like pcar computer is a bit sensitive to this stuff. I went with bottle of Techron instead.

My local dealership recommended not to run any of these cleaner products. Our motors will probably blow up before they'd benefit from something like this. :-p
