Another Helmet Question

After having done PDE and loving every second of it, I'm doing my first track event with my car at Lime Rock through NNJR in a few weeks. I don't own a helmet and was wondering if they provide them for newbies. Any NNJR members who know the answer? Thanks.

Check who is running the event and look in their disclaimer-- it should tell you what kind of helmet you'll need (like a Snell 2000 or 2005).

All the clubs usually have a "few" helmets around for guys like you or if someone actually "forgot" theirs.
However I wouldnt count on it.
You can buy a decent helmet for three or four hundred dollars. Ask yourself if you will be doing more than one event and then get yourself a helmet.

heres my ARAI GP5

Yup, but most are now requiring snell 2005 now...suprisingly, atleast Zone 2 pca STILL only needs 2000...but its best to be safe...

Thanks guys. The thought of sweaty heads prompted me to immediately purchase my own. I bought a snell 2005 online from Solo Performance.
Tom - That is one sweet helmet!

Nice... even though this summer is my first of DE's, I go carting with some amigos, and I agree-- sweaty helmets are just a little to much for me .

+1 for buying a helmet. I bought a very respectable one for under $200 which looks pretty badass compared to using the even cheaper loaner helmets. If you get a Snell05 you;re good for quite a while, so the amortized cost of your own lid is quite low.

When you are looking into the cost of buying a helmet you should consider the value of what you are trying to protect.

I'll be at Lime Rock the 20th.

it is a very comfortable helmet, however outside of my budget,

if you like the gp-5 you will love the hjc ar-10. it is very similar to the arai gp-5 but only costs ~$350

very comfortable helmet!
