What's the top you've gotten KA to so far btw?

I have had KA to a little over 201 mph as determined on a GPS. That was at about 7500 rpm's. KA redlines @ 8100 rpm's. According to her power/gearing, her top speed should be 216 mph.
Not really sure if the aerodynamics of her wide front tires would let her get there.
Hey Guys,
Chill a bit please. I was just ****in with Chad. He and I once talked about CFR driving his Mongo Machine in Nevada. I have to think the 1k drag event would be a blast. The fuel cell issue is a major PITA and perhaps not feasible. We all know my little 993 based toy is not in the same class as the Mongo Machine.

Chad and i love to fun around, but we all have the right to enjoy our Porsches any way we choose....
but I'd love to meet Chad in person if he comes over to ORR this summer!!! in any car

Soon2be993tt,
It is the redline and the gears. The 216 mph is theory according to Paul Guards sheets. I shortened 1st and 2nd gears. First is good for 62 mph, second for 80 mph. Third through sixth were lenghtened. In other words, from approx. 107 thru top speed KA would get there alot quicker than an equally powered 996tt. If I used the stock 996tt 6th gear her theoritical top speed would be 250+ mph @ 8100 rpm's. We all know the 250 mph as with the 216 mph is theory. Drag and physics play a very important part. More than most of us realize. Why else would KA only record 201 @ 7500 rpm's. Six hundred additional rpm's won't gain KA 15 mph at those speeds.
Besides, I don't make any claims to be able to beat R. He has been at what 206-208 and maintained it. I've been at 201 mph for a brief moment. It isn't the same. Just as I'm sure seven mph more past 201 mph would probably seem like a world of difference.

Chad,
I needed to read your post twice but I believe you are indeed correct. Normally, you would think a "lengthened" gear would get you MORE MPH at the same RPM, but this is not the case, you actually get LESS.
Is this indeed correct?

Yes, the higher the number the lower the gear. Take first gear for instance. The stock 996tt first gear is a 3.86 to 1. This gear will reach 38 mph @ 7000 rpm's. I installed a 3.16 to 1 first gear. It attains 49 mph @ 7000 rpm's.
A stock 996tt's sixth gear is a .075 to 1 ratio. At 7000 rpm's it should attain about 200 mph. I installed a .821 to 1 sixth gear. At 7000 rpm's it should attain 187 mph.
Hope this helps.

Tyson,
The fuel cell is definitely in the future. I need to take the car to Southern Calif. and leave it for about two weeks so measurements can be taken and drawings made. The filler connections and fuel sensor units have already been addressed as has the fuel pump. It will be made of carbon fiber and the liner will be of the highest rated level. I am really going to attempt to enlarge the capacity.
Hopefully this project will commence by June of this year. Since the 996tt has been introduced, it is obvious there isn't much of a demand for a fuel cell.
