I was hoping VW would try and take on the WRX... but no. One thing they could do is put two of those mouse sized turbos on the I4 haha. I had the hardest time finding the turbo under all that plastic :/
And why can't VW do something crazy like the Renault Clio V6?! Or make a performance diesel? lol

It was at the Detroit Auto Show, it's called the New Coupe concept. It only has 170 hp, so no thanks
It's a hybrid and 177 hp. 177hp out of a hybrid is pretty nice. Should be a decent drive.
I just got one to replace my modded MKV. Chip the thing and it's a different animal all together.
VW does have an upgraded performance line...........it's called AUDI
The jetta, GTI etc. fill a segment and fill it nicely. They don't need to compete with the WRX, or Mazda. It is what it is, and they are what they are!
-just sayin

The Mk6 GTI's have been constantly dynoing at 200whp which puts it around 235bhp. The power is actually very sufficient....and if spend $600 to chip it your sitting at around 260bhp and 300ftlbs...not too bad
The handling is what impressed me most when I test drove my car....I came from my BMW performance package that had coilovers, camberplates, upgraded bushings...(pretty much every suspension upgrade you can do) and the stock GTI just seems to do a better job around tight turns!
Anyway...after test driving it....I had to buy it
It really is the complete package for the hot hatch segment...
