40th AE 911

I was looking at a low mileage 40th AE 911. Besides being in excellent condition, I noticed that the front intake grill color is black. All my research indicates that it should be the same as the body color, GT silver.
Does this anomaly raises any flag or were they any 40th AE 911 that came with black intake grills? The production number is in the 300's.
Any comments?

It is my understanding the vents in front of the tires where the radiators are should be the same color as the car with the center vent being black. That being said, the previous owner could have painted the black. See if there is a sticker on the underside of the frunk lid,, if not the car could have been in an accident.

I inspected it carefully and it isn't painted. It is matte black as it is on the turbo version. There is also a sticker on the inside of the hood but the printing on it have faded, barely legible.
I'm just being cautious.

Sounds good, if you're interested in it spend the money and get a good PPI (Pre-Purchase Inspection)

Thanks, I'll definitely keep that in mind if I decide to pursue purchasing it.
On a side note, will the PPI be able to determine if IMS or RMS failure are impending?

If you let me know the VIN or limited edition number of the 40AE that you're considering I may be able to either help you with its history or point you to a prior owner. I keep the 40AE registry. Let me know which car you're looking at. Also, you're right that from the factory the front grill inlets were painted GT Silver, but there have been owners over the years who swapped them out or repainted them. That alone isn't cause for concern.
