LOL! I only wish my '84 had it's power to weight ratio... Great video! I've seen it several times, and never bore watching it. Love the sound of it at full throttle!

Later,
Mike

I wish mine was that slow. I love the shot at the end when they open the engine lid and you see the carbs at work.

What kind of power advantage do those carbs have over fuel injection if any at all?

Nice car and a nice run...but kind of a pooch. The carbs souind great but can't hold a candle to a 3.2 with fuel injection.....Denny

The advantage of carbs depends on the cam.
If you build a high rev race motor with a very agressive cam with lots of overlap the stock air fuel meters can't handle it well, while carbs are very good. So if you plan to build a high-rev race motor, obviously not smog legal, then it's not a bad way to go about it. Only real race engine management systems make more power, but they obviously keep better air/ fuel ratios and are much more driveable.

The stock motronic brains hold great air/fuel ratios, and are also more driveable at low rpm, but they don't have the trottle response of carbs and also can't handle high overlap cams. Normally this isn't an issue, as the stock pistons also don't have the valve relief for a real cam, and of course they'd never pass smog anyway, but in a race motor it's a problem...

Thanks god we dont have to pass smog in Florida. Thats a benifit you Californians get to share.

My close friend has a 69 911S, which he built a 2.7 , big carbs, cam, etc...the thing idles real rough but once the car is moving it is pretty spirited....but lacks the torgue my 3.0 has.

That's why you get an early car. There is a reason I own a '70 and 1 '69- both are pre smog, and hence you can do just about anything you want...

They both have cams

I don't think those are carbs, the SCRS came with high-butterfly mechanical fuel injection.
