Engine Swap

Hi guys, I just signed up here.. hoping to jump into a 911 sometime soon, so I'm just getting some information.

Anyways, I searched a bit and wasn't able to come up with any information on 911 swaps, specifically this Renegade engine swap I read about recently. I assume many of you will see this as sacrilegious, but I figured I'd find out anyway.

Since I was unable to find anything in the search, here is the website:

Basically puts a small block Chevy or LS1 into your Porsche. Seems like a potent combination. Thoughts?

Ok, ill bite.....

You say you hope you can get into a 911 soon...but if you throw anything other than a Porsche flat6 into it..it WONT be a 911 anymore.

There's a car out there for everyone's taste, as long as you like it and drive it to enjoy it, I think that is what is important. You will however kill any value the car has pre-existing though because the popular preferance is a singing flat six so keep that in mind, not to mention the cost of doing said conversion is a lot more expensive when you get into it. Happy hunting.

I'm not saying this is what I'm planning on doing, just wanted to see what you guys thought about it. I'm surprised it hadn't been discussed.. and despite my location, I've only owned Japanese cars.

Looks like they do other swaps as well, not just 911's and not just Chevy's. Maybe the 911 forum wasn't the best place to post this.. feel free to move it.

I saw a 968 with an LS1 or LT4 in it. That thing was nasty. Messing with the sixer in the back of a 911................not my style but whatever you like.
Beware you do have things to worry about when doing a conversion like this such as the radiator up front. (a lot of plumbing and potential problems)
I've seen a ton of these things for sale halfway done if that says anything.

Check out a recent 911 Magazine article. They put a 993 engine in a 911 SC and then Supercharged it. Relative easy move and the car ended up at 400 hp!!

Also, last month's Excellence had a 914 with a Subaru engine.

It's not for me, but Chevy conversions are not new to the Porsche world. I've also heard of the 944/Corvette engine swap. Good luck!

Do you have a few videos of your car on YouTube?

Edit: never mind, I couldn't see your sig as I only had 9 posts.
Badass car man.
