driving my new to me 1985 928s

I have to say,,,, the car is slowwwww. I have an automatic, but even dropping it to 1 st and smashing the gas.... its slow..... I am hoping maybe it just needs a good tune up or are these cars really that slow? Once its moving its not too bad... but no way tire spin from dead stop, which is sad.... I think my 1980 450 sl was faster...

no one here has any thoughts or experience with a 928? I have only driven mine so I don't have anything to compare it to. I just feel it should be quicker...?

Yes, my thoughts are if you want to light them up, buy a Camaro. These cars were never intended to be stop light to stop light cars. They come alive at the high revs on the open road or track. They will crush most anything else on the twisties, even many modern cars. You will never win at flashlight drags though. If you want to spend $$$, you can add a turbo, or for a bit less, a supercharger. That will help with the launch.

I wasn't looking to make it a race car, but it just feels like it should rev quicker, I have seen some company makes chips and exhausts, just don't know if that really helps... wondering if it just needs new plugs etc, good tune up problem is I don't have another 928 to compare mine too, this is my first, and only.. never driven another one

With your yr, you have the 288 hp 5.0 L V8, I believe, but with the 4spd Automatic, it was designed to start off in 2nd gear, unless you floor it. This may be reason why it feels sluggish?

Hmmm, there's a multitude of things that can make a car feel sluggish. It could as simple as a Tune Up, or something more serious. Check the other forum or FB for more help. This one is rather dead.
