anyone go from tts to 720s?
I will tell you what mod this mclaren has, the mod demanding DOUBLE the price of the turbo S, because some random engineers want you to pay for the allegedly coolness of the random car they promised the investors they will debut every year. I wonder if there is a mod to undo the 100K USD loss on this random cool door machine EVERY year you hold it.
8SECDD, you sure did sum up the thread with this video, and you don't need any explanation why you posted it here, its a perfect fit.
of course, excuses from mclaren fans, who think a few years old company who produce cars with cool doors can replace 70 years of refined machine, will began whining- "its modded" "you can mod a mustang" "you can mod an opel astra with a jet engine".
Facts are- being 2 times more expensive the 720S is already "modded", you want stock? bring it something its own price and the random machine with cool doors will never stand a chance.

Never Left, you didn't ask a pic of my car, you ask for my "cool car", i don't own an ego magnifying cool doors car, i own a turbo S. If you doubt i have one, i will be glad to add a picture. Of course, bear in mind it will come with a personal spicy note for the one doubting, which will eat yet another hat, like every time the 720S is proven to be in another league, but not the one the original writer tried to include it.
BIG, just came in.
230 KG lighter, 70 HP up, can't drag it, can't out brake it (230 KG lighter!)
What an humiliation ! It completely demolished it in the 2 things it should be better. can't believe it, 230 KG lighter!
I think very soon you will be able to pick up 2018 720S for 180K and diving. Maybe next Random car, the mclaren 1000S they will pump 1000 HP in it and 500K price tag trying to compete with 1650KG "gt cruiser" half its price FACEPALM

Yes they are pricey but there’s a reason why everyone around here dances around holding up a bloody scalp when they take one down. It’s because the 720s is bad ***.

For me, it is not always about 0-60, quarter mile,.... there is always a car faster. It is the experience, feelings and enjoyment that I get from it. Spending the last few days with the 720S and the last 4.5 years with the stage 4 911.1TTS (with close to 800hp), each has something I prefer. Overall, the 720S just offers more “fun” and exotic feel (no words can convey that clearly) that I just smile “more” when I drive it but the 911 is probably the one I trust more for long term reliability, long trips, ... among other things.
I already found a couple small things (putting a list together) that I need the dealer to fix for the 720S. 😕 I am almost OCD when it comes to minor defects, such as exposed excessive glue.

I didn't see no dance in the carwow video, guess they were too amazed. The reason some people "dance" is same reason every time the turbo S (from any generation), which looks like grandma's base Carrera, takes down an angry fire spiting cool door "supercar" even where it shouldn't, on the racetrack (even its very own sibling like the 991.1 "track ready" gt3rs).

I get the subjective and "excitement" feeling, but the fact that one got exited of a car doesn't make it "another league" super car, when it can't perform, not on the drag, not on the track not anywhere. You can get same "excitement" from 2014 Audi R8 V10, amazing sounding engine, does it make it another league super car? answer is obvious.
Cant' wait until they will shave that 200KG and boost power in the next 2RS, you will see "another league" then.

OK - Let me preface this by pointing out that I have owned lots of cars. I have a 992 C4S in the garage, a deposit on a 992 GT3, and have owned a 991.1 TT and a 991.2 GT3. I love lots of cars, especially Porsches. I also own a 720S spider (my 5th mac).
The drag race was on a damp runway. The 720S is just not going to hook, and the TTS will hook every time. The 720S put a bus on the TTS in the rolling race. Anxious to see the new TTS running at Atco. If it beats a 9.73 @ 147 at Atco stock - then kudos.

We know the 720S on a prepped track with run 9.7's in perfect conditions, but we don't drive around on VHT sprayed tracks in perfect conditions.
I Doubt a stock 992TTS will run 9.7's at stock weight...
Hence "real world" testing is sometimes better than perfect track conditions testing.
Both are awesome cars...
If one would ask where is the place grown men makes child like excuses, he should come around here.
Yes, the turbo S "hook" anytime, all the time- is the reason it's faster.
Yes, the turbo S running launch control 50 times none stop-none fading- is the reason it's better.
Yes, The turbo S derived from 70 years of refining slowly and surely instead of random pumping power and carbon fiber into random cars- makes it in another league.
When chris harris drove 2017 TTS he mocked Porsche and said "last thing this car needed was more power, cut the weight". he was wrong because the car proven to preform anyway, while "light weight" cars with more power (and cool doors) can't.

Oh Lordy this thread will never end! let's settle this once and for all and make everyone Happy Motoring!
992 TTS definitely quicker in 0-60 sprint in all weather condition
720 S is faster after 0-60 and beyond
992 TTS is more of a complete car in terms of usability
720 S fair weather and C&C car and more exotic
992 TTS good money value
720 S crazy depreciation
992 TTS old design
720 S big wow factor
Lastly, 720 S owners has more money than the 992 TTS owners!, LOL
