You’re literally taking about a completely different car than the op had compared the 720 to, and I’m literally arguing with you about a 720’s abilities and it’s a mute point for both of us. You’re not open to discuss a 720 MIGHT be a very well rounded car. Is it the FASTEST car? No! But I never said it was... I said it’s faster than a TTS and a 2RS in certain disciplines.

If you’re referring to me, it takes a hell of a lot more than a forum thread to “offend” me. I just like to give my subjective view points and some people you just can’t argue with... for what it’s worth I have a Porsche in my garage at the moment. Actually two of them, so I’m not so blind as to see OTHER cars value beyond what I own at the moment.

 

Hi Lawrence. Not bull********. Pretty close to half. A Mclaren 720S is ~$300k. Used 991 Turbo is $125kish + $30k for AIM ES850 package installed = $155k

That said, 720S is a very nice, very fast car. Just wouldn't pay double for it. But hey, that's just me.

 

I'll take a modded 991 TTS any day over the 720.

I don't see how providing bold lap times from objective drivers can be with blinders on, opposite is the true.. I did hear you say it will walk it "period" that mean faster any time, if you are talking about personal experience (the nonsense called "excitement" by exhaust note and so on- yea, a Mazda miata is exciting too) that something else.
Anyway, i can agree we can compare it to the turbo S in what mclaren aimed this car- all around super-car. can't even agree by a little bit it can touch a 2RS.
The 2RS is the absolute pinnacle of the 911 evolution for 6 decades in general and 9 years of 991 in particular. The 720S, a cool shot in the dark by a young company, can never be compared to it. You want to match it's performance? Bring on the Senna.

Caveat... all of you are comparing the mighty MODDED TTS to a STOCK 720! I believe there are couple of 8sec 720’s out there too. A TON of 9 second cars. Trapping mid 170’s STOCK in the 1/2 mile... not arguing with AIM and their success, just wanted to throw that out there. It’s all in good fun, these all are amazing cars.

We get that, man. Just sayin that a used TTS with just $30k in bolt-ons is roughly 1/2 the price and quicker/faster than a stock 720. Some may find that to be a damn fine value.
Agreed that both are amazing cars.

 

Just for fun... can ANYONE get a few US track times for comparison sake between 2RS, 3RS, TTS, and a 720S? I couldn’t care less about road racing so I have no desire to look it up, but some on here might. I’ve heard a couple of tracks here in the good ole’ US of A compare favorably for one British car vs “others”.

Again, I say not to be sarcastic, I DON’T CARE ABOUT ROAD RACING, so my measure for a cars performance isn’t turning corners. Overall I think Porsche builds one of the best cars in the world period! At the end of the day, I’m a car guy, love lots of different kinds of cars... most people get irritated that I own a 991.2 GT3 stick car and I NEVER intend to use it for its intended purpose... but I have lots of fun driving this car on the street.

I apologize to those I may have offended, irritated, or pissed off, but I vehemently maintain my position... TTS modded or stock is an amazing car, 2RS is insanely fast and sexy as hell... but I’d drive a 720S around you on the street all day everyday and be more comfortable doing it. Don’t believe me? Go drive one, you’ll see. Flame away gents! 😉

I went to my local Porsche dealer today and they have a 991.2 TTS with 16k miles on it... $156k. Decent price even though it’s a high milage car. Point being, if you took that car sent it to AIM and let them work their magic on it... All in for $180k isn’t a horrible price for a stupid fast car, I will absolutely concede that. Points well taken my friend.
