anyone go from tts to 720s?
Well....
Why don’t YOOOOOOU go race a 720.... any 720 will do and report back to us? You’re so confident you’re faster, go for it! I’ll be right here waiting for your video.
No need to get mad in front of the bold facts, i am just presenting it, not adding a word (you are welcome to write youtube or the publisher they are wrong). I am not faster, the car is.. i don't care about racing my self (i have other professions) but care for the capability, quality and importance of my automobile.

Seriously, how old are you? Why don’t you get off YouTube and get out to some real race events and watch real world cars in the hands of different people... not YouTubers, not magazine guys, not race car drivers... real people in the real world. Idgaf what you think, a 720 is the faster car PERIOD! It’s been proven. I’ve seen it. As far as being mad... I’m not mad, just get irritated when people spew bs they haven’t a clue about. This EFFING conversation started as a question to anyone switch from a TTS to a 720S... YOU are the only one spouting off about a car which wasn’t even mentioned in the op.
With that said, i am old enough to teach you both about cars and a few more subject i hold a master in. As far as cars concern, i can see you spend your time pimping rides, not my thing, i keep it stock and follow car's history, relevance and more.
I don't "think" 2rs is faster, i show and prove it and you just tell otherwise, so video/records/numbers overtaking anonymous racer boy word on the forum, this is one rule everyone follow.
The original question was about switching the Porsche to mclaren.
First claim- "it's another level"- proven wrong.
Second- "nothing as fast as 720 this side of the 1 million"- proven wrong.
That's the smartest, relevant and true contribution to this thread, by me of course.
FACT - 720S is quicker / faster in a straight line (drivers begin equal)
FACT - in REAL 1/4 racing, it will depend on the driver and how he/she cuts down the tree. If you're sleeping, your 720S' power might or might NOT bridge that GAP.
FACT - 2RS in the hands of a capable driver (both being equal) would probably be the better tool on a road course (Hense the N'ring times).
So, Buy / Drive what YOU want and don't worry.
Me? I personally prefer the 2RS over the "Hey look at me" looks of the 720S. The drag racer in me would love the 720S on the strip though.

Nice! your last sentence sum it good! 720S can be sum in "look at me" "fast in straight line" kind of car.. so is my neighbor's pimped up Golf r32 or a dodge demon.
I wasn't "Making fun of" or "*******" the looks of a 720S, the Porsche just fits my personality better... ACTUALLY the GT cars ( 3RS and 2RS) are a bit too flashy for me as well.
To be honest, I'd take the looks of a completely Stock 991.2 TTS with a complete bolt-on / tuned mod list and maybe a few suspension (if tracking) over the looks of the 2RS.
However, they're ALL outside of my budget and will remain there, so what I think really doesn't mean chit in here anyway..lol
I daily drive the 911. It isn’t by any measurable means mover comfortable than the 720s. The 720s just more comfortable in EVERY way. Point is that those of you who keep on saying that the 991 is a more comfortable GT car- you’re wrong. The 991 is more reliable, is more subtle for $150k less -that’s where it shines.
btw , for all the track stat guys, the 720s is over a full second faster than the 918 at big willow. Still half a second behind a viper ACR and .6 seconds behind a GT2RS

I'm 6'2" @ 270 with a somewhat athletic build and have had two broke feet, two knee "ACL' surgeries, two broken wrist, two separated shoulders, and two broken ribs (motorcycles racing). How are YOU going to tell me how much more "comfy" I'll be in any given car??
Argue numbers all you want (Still subjective depending on driver and how big their "set" is when driving said car), but don't tell someone else about their "Comfort".
No SIR!!! Nobody is "Wrong" in what they themselves "Think" about comfort. It's TOTALLY Subjective.

The 720 roof cut-out makes ins and outs a lot easier. I grab the door handle to enter and close the door in one motion. Use the handle again to help pull myself out. The 991.1 TT that I traded was easy access too only because of the higher roof line and upright seats. My dealer had the new McLaren GT on display and without the cut-out I had to squench in.
a 6'2" individual can easily fit in a 720. Getting in and out is more challenging. Ride quality is far superior - Think S-class vs AMG C class. Unless you subjectively love a harsher ride quality, the 720 has a far more supple ride quality. Seems to me you are a brand loyalist. Fine your Turbo 991 rides better than a Bentley Mulsanne. Im sure there will be someone that agrees with you given a large enough sample size. There is always a 2 sigma standard deviation from the mean.
I wasn't saying I personally can't fit or don't find the 720 comfortable. All I was saying is that you as a person can't tell someone they're "wrong" for a totally subjective thing like "Comfort". Size or not. That's all the point I was making.
I wasn't even comparing my 997.2 TTS to a 720 in comfort. I'm sure they are comfortable. Just stating that telling someone they're wrong for a subject thing isn't right.
Carry on.....
I didn’t own it but my father had a TTS and I drove it quite a bit. He also has a Huracan which I’ve put about 100 miles on.
I recently traded my old 911 turbo in for a 650S spider.
not a TTS vs 720S comparison at all.
but all I can say is that the experience with the 650S vs a Porsche is much different. The mclaren has the supercar feel to it. Not that the sound of the turbo engine is bad but the mclaren with the rear window down (spider) is pretty damn incredible.
my wife is very happy I went with the mclaren. She thinks it looks and sounds amazing while being very comfortable for a nice aggressive cruise to dinner and back.
like the others have stated, the Porsche is incredible in what it does. It’s truly a jack of all trades (and master of some). The mclaren is a different car. It feels very special.
I didn’t buy the car for clout or anything. But it turns heads like crazy whereas the Porsche is more or less a dime a dozen and blends in. I see GT3 RS constantly around here and they are beautiful to me but they still don’t have the presence of a mclaren, Ferrari, lambo, etc. And that can be a plus or minus.
for me, I don’t track the cars and I quit street racing as having kids makes you change priorities and values a bit. But when I do take my car out, I want to have a fun experience. When I took the Porsche out, it was great, reliable, and an excellent overall car. The mclaren is a true experience which is very similar to any other type of supercar (Ferrari lambo etc). If you want a straight line quick car, you can always throw money at a GTR, Porsche, Honda, Ford, whatever and make it a straight line monster. Built gallardo TT are still roll on legends. But the 720S is definitely at the top of the stock performance chain while offering a very complete stock overall package. I don’t think anyone buys a 720S solely based on its acceleration...
Now even though I have a far inferior 650S which I still felt was a great overall performance machine, I did drive a 720S and the performance seemed pretty mind blowing. It “felt” overall “better” performance than the TTS but that’s very subjective. The experience again though is so different.
one more thing about the mclaren. It really is comfortable. Besides the difficult entry and exit for some older folks, the attention that it draws, and the low clearance (lift is a must), it could truly be driven daily. It’s got an amazingly supple suspension and although the car is small, once you are seated it is very comfortable.
Anyway they are both amazing cars and if I could have both in my garage I would. Because I barely get to use a fun car, I want to maximize my fun. Mclaren for now though I’m sure I’ll be back in Porsche someday!
