ECU Tune on car with 30K
ECU Tune on car with 30K
Any thoughts on doing an ECU tune on a car with 30,000 plus miles on it? I can't get a newer car (used cars are silly expensive) and new ones are getting $50K over the list price right now. I may keep mine for at least one if not two more years, so I am finally considering an ECU tune. Any thoughts or experience with cars with a few miles on them & getting an ECU tune is welcome. Thank you.
30K is nothing for these cars. The 9A1 is a solid, partially hand-built monster of a motor with a real 1000hp capability on the stock longblock. Running it at say 650-700hp and a good extra wallop of torque will not change this engine's lifespan much at all. Your PDK might take more of a beating, if you're hard on the car (aka hard throttle off every stop) but even then, it's equally a beast.
Yes, they have a great rep, but they are on the other Coast of Florida from me here near Tampa.

hit up Softronic, its all remote, great support and good people. As others have mentioned, 30k is NOTHING, tune away

To alleviate you concerns as a comparison...I have 6 years of thousands of launches from a dead stop, mostly for half mile runs...and of course at much more elevated power levels (147+ 1/4 mile / 180+ 1/2 mile traps) with sticky R888R tires and zero issues with the PDK. I'm using the Cobb PDK tune to increase clutch line pressure.
I just make sure there is no clutch slippage. Any clutch slippage is bad for the PDK because it can become permanent. It probably starts near he 142+ 1/4 mile trap level on the stock PDK tune. So if you are over that you will need the Cobb PDK tune. Otherwise you will be fine.

Not a issue as long as the Tq maps are not pushed too hard. also, ability to flash to oem is important.
custom tuning is the key as not all programming should be the same..

My car has ~60k and it has had a tune for years now. I used have GIAC tune and recently I switched to Cobb with Sam. Car feels and runs strong. I launch it and do spirited runs every once in a while too. I haven't done the pdk tune yet.
