Finally able to check out the Carrera S

The new Carrera S looks outstanding in person! The pictures I saw online were great, but the car really needs to be seen in person to be appreciated. I was able to see a side by side comparison with a 997. I'll be taking a test drive soon and will let you know my thoughts.

I'm either purchasing a 991 Carrera S with PDK, an Aston Martin Vantage, a used Gallardo, or waiting a year and a half to get the BMW i8.

Some lucky owner purchased this stunning car.

Loving those pictures ... thanks for posting them ... you sound like you have an amazing list to choose from for your next car ...

Have you thought of the Audi R8 as well ... it's based on the Gallardo !!

No problem! I really want to wait for the BMW i8 but those other cars are tempting me now. I did think about the R8, but my cousin ordered one and it's being built as we speak. Since we hang out a lot, I decided to scrap that idea.

I think the i8 BMW should be out sometime in the next 15 years. They say 2014 but it's such a freaky concept car looking vehicle that I can't imagine it's anywhere near production. The US D.O.T. would have a field day on those doors alone ....

Haha that was pretty funny! I do,however, think it will be ready by then.

I saw both cars side by side also and it did nothing for me, thought the open sunroof looked hideous.

Different strokes - I thought the sunroof was very cool the way it slid over the body - Very design-inspired. eggshell. Just wish it opened a larger hole -

It definitely should! I'm pretty sure one of the BMW insiders that posted in that forum stated that the production i8 should be correlated 95-97% to the concept i8. From what he said, it appears that 3-5% variance is with the amount of glass on the doors and the front bumper area.

I like the sunroof in person as well. I agree, it should be able to opened further.

I thought about an R8 as well and drove a used 2009 v-8 model yesterday and was very disappointed in how loose it felt as well as the cramped cabin. My base 997.2 is a FAR better drive in my opinion.
