Anyone's build beng finalized this week?
Great news for both of you - seems that things have really let loose and the cars are moving. The ship my Cabriolet is on is called the Cougar Ace and it carries 4800 - 5000 cars; cannot imagine the logical nightmare that must be when these ships go into the ports!
I saw you comparing VIN numbers - the last five digits on mine is 54232 and it shipped on March 1, and it due in Rhode Island on the 13th.

Just got my 991S with PDK, full leather and premium plus. The PDK was a leap of faith being a manual guy forever. I like it and think it fits the car well. Waiting is the hardest part
Beautiful! Drive it in good health!
Hey Newman - hope your trip is going well. I was tooling around my dealers inventory and noticed two things: 1) my dealer never listed my car on the inventory page, must be a matter of preference for the dealer; and 2) all of the cabs he has listed (including what appears to be the 103rd cab) all have 4000 series numbers. Our earlier guesses that coupes started with 0XXX (mine is 1636 and Gleek48 is 1658), and cabs with 4XXX seems to be correct. So you have a very early cab!

I think we are figuring this out - thanks for the followup, mine would then be the 232nd cab built. I wonder if this 232 for the US or their total production? I know their are three digits in the VIN number for use in the US/Canada, but I suspect that the last four digits are total production - that would limit them to 9999 cars of each model per year?
So for you, I think you can safely say you have the 232nd cab ever made for North America. (very cool). It may not be the 232nd cab worldwide - but it might! But, depending on how good she looks and how such things impress her, I think you would be within your rights to say it is worldwide in a bar - until there is incontrovertible evidence to the contrary.
I had the same question. I think it would have to start over again each year and region by region. These are still relatively small production cars. But, eventually they will have several iterations based on the same platform, ( targas, turbos, GT cars, 4's, etc.). Some of that cuts into there own market, but I don't think the would limit themselves to 9999 - 991's worldwideper year.

I don't care if it's the 232nd cab or the 2032 cab, I would just like to have it; I have a sneaking suspicious you may see your car before I see mine. My dealer has gone silent when I followed up with them on the rollout of the cabriolets, they're waiting to hear back from the regional sales manager - we could looking at April 15th, the official roll out date for cabs in North America.
I am really sorry to hear that. I take all info from my salesman with several grains of salt but there is a good chance I will have it next Friday. Gerenb said his dealer assured him of delivery on the same schedule and he is in Virginia, probably 5 hours south of me - his car was delivered to Davisville on the same ship as mine. And Gleek48, who had his on the same ship - his still is - was told that his car should be delivered in Houston and he might have it by the end of the month as well - which is Saturday (that would be remarkable - it would mean that the Houston port, many times bigger than the port in R.I. was able to get a car 4 or 5 days after deliver in R.I., and still get it to its dealers on essentially the same day). But, but, but.... I remain hopeful for all of us.
Maybe Porsche will not role out the cars that are just being supplied to the dealers, but I can't see why they would not deliver cars that were pre-ordered by individuals. Hey, we have agreed to pay for it, they could throw us a bone.
Keep in touch as you learn more and best of luck.

Not sure, but I think the Camellia Ace is getting delayed from March 27th to maybe March 30th. The original estimate was March 29th, so not too big of a surprise. Hopefully, this is not true. Oh well, the wait continues...

I just came back from my dealer and he indicated again that Porsche PDI centers generally expedite sold orders first and are extremely motivated to move cars to the dealers before month and esp. quarter ends.
Unfortunately, as my prior post indicates, it looks like my delivery will not be until early April as it looks like the Camellia Ace's schedule has been delayed into Houston. If I had a guess, it is because of a delay at Brunswick. It was supposed to dock earlier today, but I think is out to sea (probably circling awaiting an open birth space - just my guess).

I feel worse for Newman - his car was finished and in the lower 48 before ours and he still does not have it. With luck, he will get it as soon as he returns from his trip.
But we will all be talking about how much fun it is to drive in days or at most weeks. And having you all hear to share the wait has been great!
My dealer informed me today that he believed my car would be ready for pickup on Wednesday or Thursday. I will be trading in my 2006 Cayman S. If you want a decent deal on your trade-in, I strongly advise you to take your car to Carmax first. They were originally offering me a lowball price but said they'd meet the Carmax number.
such is life
I never expect a bone from Porsche (corporate) but they do build great cars so we put up with it. Most of their decisions, I am thinking about the new electric steering, turn out pretty good after further review. I am an old manual transmission guy going back to the 1960s but I bought it with the PDK because it's that good; I like new technology even when it occasionally bites me in the rear end. Good for you guys - that's great news.
