Advice re Tracking the 991

Guys, I have my first track day in the 991 on June 22nd at NJMP Lightning.

To those who have taken their 991 on the track -- any feedback on brake
and tire temp, fluid temps, etc. to pass along? Sport Plus vs manual shifting etc...

I wanted to have Pagids on for the track but they haven't been released yet (I'm told they should be ready within a month or so). Otherwise, I plan on going totally stock.

Thx v much in advance...

I'll be there...In your rear view mirror...as always.

I think only a few here have tracked the 991....Scott had a thread as did one or two others. I think dev911 had one...or some name similar?

Thanks!

A very short version of my track feedback: no issues of any kind and the car will make you look like a pro. Nothing to worry about fluid temperatures, oil consumption, etc. just be prepared to refuel regularly as I averaged 8-9 mpg (but this is nothing special to the 991S).

Tires and brakes will be the price to pay as I went through 2 sets of brakes (incl. burnt/ warped rotors) and 2 sets of tires in 8,000 miles+ 7 days at the track so far. I am taking delivery of dedicated rims with 888's for the track (+ new Michelin PSS on my street wheels) and will have a 15" Brembo BBK mounted at the front tomorrow.
Being a bit more subtle than tracking full throttle/full brakes can help. Also check you tire pressure regularly and bleed them after each session. I found out that staying around 40 PSI works fine for a good adherence and not being too hard on the tires.

And one last thing: go manual! The PDK in sport plus mode is very capable, but you ll never have as much fun than when you are in control!

Enjoy!!

Hi, SM ATL,
Thank you for publishing your journal here. I enjoyed reading it. I bought Larry's Laptimer Pro after reading about it here.

I am considering a track day with Rezoom Motorsports. Can you comment on your experience at the track with that group?

Thanks

Do not mean to hijack the thread so I'll keep it short.
Rezoom is a nice group of people. In a nutshell, their events have a bit more of a relaxed/free format that what I have seen with Chin, BMW CCA or what I have heard of PCA. As long as organizers take care of grouping people by level of track experience (everybody does it) you will be fine and have fun!
