Delivery checklist

My 991S is finally at the port in San Diego. Delivery is getting real close now.

Any advice on what to pay attention to during delivery? My previous experience tells me that there will be sensory overload with so many things going on. It may be good to have a checklist to go through to make sure I didn't forget anything.

Any recommendations?

I would check under the car especially rear exhaust for damage. One member had damage on an exhaust pipe which might have occurred during shipping. I also went to my dealer a day before delivery to have him explain the use of the car so when mine arrived I could take off quick. You might check the iManual on the Porsche site and watch their videos to become more familiar with its operation…there is a lot to learn. I also had a bad case of nerves for the first hour or two until I felt more comfortable with the car. Enjoy!

Was your 991 on the Dorado Leader? Mine is, and the scheduled arrival in port is tomorrow. From marinetraiific.com, it looks like it's currently moored off of Sand Diego.

Shouldn't be any delivery issues with this one since I've already driven it 2k mi in Europe and, unlike cars coming directly from the factory, an ED car is boxed separately b/c they don't "paper" it to avoid scratching on a less than perfect finish. Anyway, that's what Zuffenhausen told me.

Don't forget to make a list of the options and go through to ensure they are all there. In my case, it was perfect, but I don't have the options that many have. You might have the salesman go through the MFD to set up exactly what you want, figuring it out yourself takes a little time. Take a 30 minute test drive to make sure all the functions (including stop / start and sailing) are working. Good idea to look underneath. All this said, I'm willing to bet that you won't have any trouble at delivery or with a responsive service department.

Have a great ride.

My Boxster was on the same boat. It was scheduled to be in San Diego on 8/19 but actually unloaded on 8/15. I'm eagerly awaiting the car to make it the last 100 miles to Circle. It should be in the next few days.

My dealer is in Nor Cal - Fremont. So I'll have a slightly longer wait than you.

I've seen a lot of people with keyless entry issues. Has anyone gotten the dealer to be able to fix them?

my local dealer replaced door sensor and even control unit; no luck. currently driver's side door is still not working and the dealer ordered a full wiring harness which was recommended by Porsche factory. the part has been ordered more than a week ago and it's still sitting in Germany

Hope they work it out for you before it gets frustrating.
