Sport Chrono watch lights up with headlights ON?

Hey guys.
Just noticed that my Sport Chrono guage doesn't light up with the headlamps on. Did a search in the 997 forum and it seems that in this model some people have it lit all the time, cant find how to do it in the manual , any ideas?
Thanks.

I just did, seems they need to program that feature via PWIS. Thanks.

What is PWIS and is there a way to light up the Sports Chrono at night without having to take it to the dealer (my dealer is 2 hours away).

I don't know if this is particular to my car, but have others noticed that the ticking of the second hand on the Sport Chrono is irregular? The first 3 ticks last about 1 second each, the fourth tick lasts about a second and a half, and the fifth tick lasts about half a second. So the total elapsed time after 5 ticks is 5 seconds, but not as a result of 5 equally spaced ticks. Yes, this is the kind of thing only an OCD person would notice or care about, so if you're not OCD, don't even bother responding. :-)

Ha I'm just like you and I always spot small things like that quickly and then the problem is I will know that it is there even if no one else notices. That sucks that you have to go 2 hours away but at least you get to spend some time bonding with your awsome ride.

I thought that this was programmable through the display in the cluster...

I will take a look later to see if I can find it.

The little black **** in the instrument cluster, just to the right of the Oil Pressure gauge. Twist it and you adjust the brightness of all your gauges and the PCM display. The Sport Chrono clock is included, but because it is in your peripheral view of the road, will never be as bright as the lower gauges.

Spoke to sales guy at dealer. He advised it only lights up when:

1) Lights are on
2) You activate the chrono feature.

I will see if I can verify in book. He knew right away when asked.

He's wrong. See above.

But...you could actually try it for yourself. Go out to the garage, leave the ceiling lights off, twist the key and turn the little black ****.

See?

I'm wondering if the issue is this:

Those of you with the chrono NOT lighting up at night... do you have it set to display the clock when not in use?

I have mine set to show the clock and it lights at night. When i turned that clock feature off one night i think I remember the chrono going completely dark.

Are you guys talking about just lighting up the digits of the sports chrono clock, or does the entire clock light up too? So far I've only seen the digits light up; the rest of the clock (the hands and perimeter of the clock) stay dark. Is there a way to light up everything?
