OT: help on suggesting replacement for BMW 335

My wife has a 2007 BMW 335 coupe. She is thinking of replacing it and has asked me for ideas. My preference FWIW is that she picks a car that I also would like to drive. She does not want a P-car as she feels that she can drive the 991 anytime. Here are a few of the things she would like: not too big, two door, sporty, convertible and MT are a plus. Of course she could opt for another 335, but just wondering if anyone here can offer ideas. Thanks!

that new Jaguar F type looks absolutely stunning. is it in the right price range? no MT though, but i mention it because it's at the top of my list right now for non-exotic convertibles

my second choice would be the Boxster or third, the S5 convertible if you can't convince her to get a second Porsche

i second the recommendation for the s5 convertible. similar comfort to the 335, v6 offers decent mileage, better looking (in my opinion).

I drive an S5 cab and would recommend a test drive. No manual, but if you put it in manual mode and use the paddles the engine comes alive! I need the awd which is what crossed the 335 cab off my list. The S5 has a huge trunk also. I can drop a back seat and carry skis and can carry 2 sets of golf clubs out of sight.

That said, There Is No Substitute, which is why I ordered a C4S Cab last month....

Being female myself I would definitly say: Get her an Audi A5 or S5 convertible. I've had one and it's a very nice car. But maybe I'm a bit biased

Or wait for the new BMW 4-series that's coming, wich is the successor of the 3- coupe and convertible. Allthough I have no idea when that hits the US-market.

The 335 coupe is still the old model, so I would never get that one new at the moment, because of the upcoming 4-series...

New 335 or 435... is coming out really soon.
Jag F-type
Either that.. or the S5. I can't really think of any other Coupes I'd want to own.

I can't believe all the Audi recommendations . I dislike the car so much that i even reject them as loaner cars . I can go back in time to the cars with the transmission snags of the 1980's or fast forward to the A4 sharing the same console with the VW Jetta in the 90's but I have never understood why anyone would buy an Audi over a BMW .. unless AWD was a necesity . I don't even like BMW that much anymore and after 23 BMWS I am done with the brand unless for some reason they start building cars that match up to Porsche .

The reason why i suggested the M3 over the M4 is because a CPO used M3 can be bought for the same price as 335i new . Unlike the next gen M3 or M4 is is a V8 engine and even though it burns gas it is reliable . The BMW Turbo engines are doubtful in comparison .

If price is no object then an M6 is a great daily driver but I just can't see spending 120+K for a BMW when one can buy a Porsche . In fact I am almost leaning towards suggesting a CPO 07 -09 997.1 Turbo Cab . In my opinion that's a car to replace a 335i and priced at 70-95K blows away an M6 or anything that Audi ever even considered offering.

as for the reference to "chick car " .. I never understood assigning a gender to a vehicle either . There are only a handfull of women who actually go out and buy a high end car rather than cherish the savings but for those few who do a 911 Turbo cab is a about as elegant as it gets .

i'm guessing you haven't driven the newest audis since you said you reject them as loaners. not sure how you can comment on its quality/performance.

to each his own.
