On the Porsche site it states 4.3 for the Manual and 4.1 for the PDK. So I guess there is only a .1 difference. The paragraph above describing the Power Kit is also a PDK @ 4.0.

I am still very happy I checked the X51 box for perhaps no other reason then exclusivity and that is what Porsche brings to the table no matter how it is optioned.

The powerkit adds HP not torque. Apart from theory and hypothetical aftermarket performance I can tell you about direct driving experience.

After back to back drives on the street (my C2S coupe without and a friend 's C4S with the powerkit) we both felt the difference to be quite obvious. The engine revs faster (with commensurate sound) from 5k-7.5k with the powerkit. My lighter car felt "quicker" to him at medium speeds.

So I believe that other things being equal (C2S vs C2S, coup v coup, etc) there is advantage in acceleration at higher speeds, rather than from a dead start. The difference in HP is not enough to offset differences in weight up to about 100, but after that +30 HP would come into play.

When we got done, I wanted a Powerkit, he wanted a coupe. I wanted to put the top down, Go figure.

Reading about it on some other sites and looking at the curves it does indeed appear to be slightly slower off the block yet kicks harder but smoother exactly in the range you describe. Given that you also get s chrono, pse, another radiator, and TV it really sounds like they should have thrown it in from the start at a much reduced price.

They may have similar top end speeds, but you do get there faster with the X51. That's the trick. The power kit takes off at the higher RPMs over a standard S.
If you think it's a ripoff, just don't get it. Choose another route if wanted. That's all.

Remember the guy idling next to you at the stoplight w/the new '67 RPO Z28 w/Hooker headers & Isky high lift cam/solid lifters - that sound gave you something to think about.

My experience driving a 991 w/Powerkit & it's sounds brought back similar memories.

It's not all about the 30HP on paper......
