I mean seriously. $17,800 with PSE and Sport Chrono, so you're really paying about $13,000 for the added 30 hp. Surefire seems like a rip off to me. C'mon man. They need to add power to the Carrera and Carrera S for free. Add 30 hp for us for free. They need to be working on this.

Yes I agree. For that much money you basically get a gt3 similarly equipped with 75 more horses and a bad *** shape. I don't see the point. You could also almost get a turbo, I guess you would have to be a rear wheel NA geek to really take advantage of the power kit.

Waste of money in my opinion.

I am not sure you can call it a rip off, they give you exactly what they say, if porsche promised more and gave less, then it would be a rip off. Each person must decide if this high price upgrade is what they want, but I believe you get everything promised..thus not a rip off.

Definitely overpriced but like Dilligaf said it can't really be called a rip off. However, they wouldn't supply it if there wasn't a demand.

I have a feeling that They are using parts that are common to other current models or future models. When the GTS comes out with the exact or similar HP to a Carrera S with the power kit then I would feel like a shmuck if I paid 13k extra for a model that will be 5-8k more than a Carrera S at most. Just my thinking.

Natural selection: don't buy it. The base c2s is an incredible machine.

Not a rip off, just something I don't find all that valuable for the $'s

Then again it's not the only overpriced 911 option... Just the most expensive....

Arguably the entire car is a ripoff when you consider it in context of what Chevrolet is providing in the Z06 with Z07 package that they announced today. For less than a C2S you get a fully loaded 620hp car with Carbon ceramic brakes and lots of other goodies. Even when compared with an M4 the C2S is a ripoff.

Buying the 911 is not about getting value for the money, it's about getting what you desire.

+1. Many years ago, the common adage for Porsche engines was "figure spending $1,000 for each extra HP you want out of the engine." This was common. ( THAT was before the inflation we have today, too!) I don't think that has changed much; and in that light, the powerkit IMHO, is a bargain.

I wouldn't spec a new 911 build without it. YMMV.

When I had a VW GTI with a 2.0T motor I could do an APR flash for $500 and get 30 more horsepower. I know you can't do that with a normally aspirated flat-6, but yes $13,000 is a bit much.

I bought it. People have different preferences. I prefer performance oriented options. For instance, I wouldn't pay for deviating stitching, parking distance sensors, 18-way seats, or heated seats. These all cost a crap load as well. I don't use any of that stuff, but I will use 30 more hp. I wish I could have ditched navigation and had non-powered seats. I do regret listening to the sales people on not getting PDCC. I didn't listen to them on Burmester or X51. I should have ditched full leather and added PDCC.

I figured I spent about $9,000 on my E92 for bolt-ons that got me about 40hp. Also, I basically voided the warranty on the car and had a few issues with fit or installation along the way. I knew I would not be able to replicate that with bolt-ons on a 911. I convinced myself I would not modify the 911. We'll see how that goes...

2014 C2s + used VW GTI = 2014 C2s with powerkit :-)

Expensive, but I bet the next 30HP really makes the engine open up, without getting to the GT3 level. On my 997 4S, I changed the plenum and entire exhaust and it transformed the car in to a much livelier machine. I don't even know if it added much (or any) more HP, but it sure felt a LOT better!

The word "ripoff" Implies being cheated somehow and has a sense of emotion to it...

You are ripped off when you " pay for this but they give you that". (Sorry for the Neil young quote)

Unless we are miss-led by a sale person, there is no ripoff...

Maybe just whining and regrets over paying more for something than we want..
